Negli altri tre casi si è assistito ad un passaggio ad una forma di gestione differente: la fondazione... e la istituzione...
So do I say:
...are all managed with economic accounting
...all use economic accounting

the second bit of information you gave me (the one concerning article 113) confirms what I though: "gestione in economia" has nothing to do with accounting as such, but with the way public services are managed. "Gestito in economia" means something like "managed directly by the local authorities" - i.e. with their own personnel and resources.
I am not sure whether this is the best way of saying it in English - but once you get the meaning straight, then you'll find the right translation.
As for the other sentence you posted: ("Ma per un museo quella finanziaria (entrate ed uscite) o quella economica (ricavi e costi) non può essere l’unica dimensione gestionale soggetta a misurazione.") this is talking about something different, i.e. the different "dimensions" of management (so you can have a financial dimension or an economic dimension of management even if a service is "gestito in economia").

well, there we go: "La gestione diretta, ossia la gestione in economia..." confirms once again the explanation I gave you. Gestione diretta is about the direct management of public services (i.e. by the local authorities) vis-à-vis other forms of (indirect) management (outsourcing, creation of separate company, foundation, etc.). It has _nothing_ to do with economics-based management (which by the way has only a handful of hits in google). |
