La frase comunque non è chiara. Potrebbe anche essere tutto il complesso mascellare nel suo insieme, anche se in quel caso tutta questa filippica non avrebbe molto senso (ma non si sa mai, talvolta gli autori sono poeti mancati, lo sai bene tu quanto me).
Ti consiglio di chiedere delucidazioni agli autori.

Io credo invece che si tratti dell'articolazione dento-alveolare.
ho trovato per esempio: movimento a cassetto (maxillofacial growth context)
forward movement of dentoalveolar segment in growth. The term was in inverted commas i.e. ...'..un movimento alveolo-dentale superiore, detto "movimento a cassetto" '.

Or, since dental alveoli are the tooth sockets, maybe it's referring to the individual sockets - seems unlikely though.
