Sorry about the lack of contex, but the client didn't give me any more to go on either.
The document I'm working on is about sports supplements and training regimes, and the various sports are mentioned in an appendix at the end with no context.

Alfredo Tutino: I think that the Italian expression refers almost always to climbing *natural* rocky "walls" - see for instance http://www.oltrelverticale.it/roccia.html#arrampicata_sporti...

-> Well, one definition of "wall" in the Chambers dictionary is "a very steep smooth rock face (mountaineering)" so technically I think it covers that!

Ivana Micheli: I have to agree with Alfredo: in English (UK at least), "wall climbing" generally refers to artificial structures. Granted we talk about "rocky walls" but by removing "rocky" you're simply left with "walls", which on its own isn't enough

After all, rock climbing does involve climbing a "parete rocciosa" and the context doesn't specify whether we're talking about a "parete rocciosa", "parete naturale" or "parete artificiale"!
