I don't know if these two are separate items or if the author is using them as synonyms. I understand that faldellín is a short skirt, but I'd like to find a more technical term if one exists. Here's the whole sentence (talking about ancient Mayan apparel):

Los varones comunes portaban el braguero, o sea, una tira de tela entre las piernas, sujeta a la cintura; o **un paño de caderas o faldellín.**

loin cloth/loincloth or tucked wraparound skirt
Erklärung:
My guess is that they are two very different things. I *think* pano de caderas is loincloth (it is in the picture referenced by Tati), and below is a definition of the "faldellin":

4X Faldellin: half circle shaped skirts with the back cut on the fold. This produces a line that goes acrodd the CF horizontally which then touches the hem further back. It gives a line very similar to that seen in some portraits of skirts which are probably tucks (as in some they extend all the way around the skirt.)

I found it!! It's "loincloth apron." Here are three Mayan references:

And just MAYBE they are synonymns. I found this definition in an excellent glossary of textile terms.

This is what I would say:

"loincloth apron or string skirt" and leave the punctuation as ambiguous as it is in the original.

Not too sure about it, but have seen references about them as associated elements. Hope this helps.

Apron

found in the Authorized Version in Gen. 3:7, of the bands of fig-leaves made by
our first parents. In Acts 19:12, it denotes the belt or half-girdle worn by
artisans and servants round the waist for the purpose of preserving the
clothing from injury. In marg. of Authorized Version, Ruth 3:15, correctly
rendered instead of "vail." (R.V., "mantle.")
