María Teresa Taylor Oliver: 5:30pm Nov 2, 2004: We need to know the source country, the Spanish variant... As you're aware, the language varies greatly from one country to another. We also need more context, please. -
Stanley Garland (asker): 5:38pm Nov 2, 2004: Yes, the study is being conducted among mexican migrant high school students. The respondant was talking about certain types of girls in the school that would not associate with him for some reason.
Henry Hinds: 8:35pm Nov 2, 2004: It might have been poorly transcribed with errors, therefore we might have to think what it should be rather than what we see. I'll think, but no guarantees! -
María Teresa Taylor Oliver: 5:34pm Nov 11, 2004: Glad to be of help :) -

viejitas = hags
Erklärung:
Not sure about the "galas" part, but "vijitas" may be "viEjitas", diminutive for "viejas".

In Mexican Spanish, "vieja" is a derogatory term for any woman, specially one's wife.
