En France, on utilise le code multilingue 850 Latin 1. Sur un PC, pour accéder à un caractère, il suffit d'appuyer simultanément sur la touche ALT et de taper le code ASCII en décimal. Exemples: ê = ALT 136 â = ALT 133 É = ALT 144 û = ALT 150 ô = ALT 147 m² = m puis ALT 253 m³ = m pui ALT 252
