Because it just feels good!

Apart from busying ourselves with translation in countless subject areas, we are simultaneously striving to make this world a better place in everything we do. We run a carbon-minus office going above and beyond today's standards in terms of insulation, ecological-friendly materials, and smart design. Passive heating not to mention 'sky-spot' lighting keep our office quarters comfy and well-lit even on rainy days. And all that without having to flick a light switch.

We also purchase all office supplies from Memo AG - a mail-order and e-commerce provider of environmentally-friendly office supplies. Take pride in knowing you're receiving a translation of surpassing quality at an affordable price while upholding the values of environmental and social responsibility.

Our decision to go 'eco' doesn't represent an image-marketing campaign or an attempt to boost sales. This actually is our own earnest attempt at exemplifying how small business can rise to the challenge and go the extra mile to make a difference in the world today. It represents efficiency in action and how we express our thanks for the chance we have been given in the form of a healthy natural environment, a stable political system, equal opportunity, equal access to education, and so on.

We want to reflect the trend towards green business while setting an example for those, who have yet to actively participate. Rest assured, there will be more to come in terms of ecological and social excellence, we're already proud sponsors of a wide variety of both national and international aid organisations and have had the pleasure to witness the positive developments on this front over the years.

To keep with our promise of 'great things to come', we have expanded our sponsorship and patronage network. We want to share our professional and private success with others to make sure that we make a net positive contribution to society and the natural world.

An inspiring saying I'm sure many of you are familiar serves as a basis for our 'decision to sponsor': “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime", here man obviously also means woman. That's why we support organisations that educate not only the skills of self-sufficiency, but also ethics. Ultimately, the goal isn't just to survive and serve oneself, but to become a good person, to help, and to contribute. We have researched various organisations and made our decision as follows:

For people:

Stiftung HAND IN HAND
http://www.handinhand.at/
From the website:
Hand in Hand is an international and non profitable organization (NPO) with three main targets:
to bring aid to victims of natural catastrophes
to provide medical treatment and health care to the needy
to offer education in areas lacking the necessary infrastructures

World Vision
http://wvi.org
After having participated a number of times in the 30-hour famine, I had the chance to hear an inspiring speech by a young organiser on the work and purpose of World Vision at the end of a 30-hour famine. The idea of saving life, but also giving purpose and direction to it appealed to me. I have met a number of people, who through the work of World Vision have managed to become great leaders in their communities thanks to the access to education and support this organisation gave them.

Wikipedia
http://www.wikipedia.org

What a marvelous idea and project Wikipedia has been. A giant step towards equal education, Wikipedia supports young and old, rich and poor... To express our thanks to Wikipedia for helping so many including ourselves on a day to day basis, we support it.
For the Environment
BUND, Friends of the Earth, Germany
http://www.bund.net/
The natural world is the foundation for our existence. It offers us bounty, beauty, inspiration, and so much more. Quality of life is very closely linked to an intact and healthy environment. This is why we contribute to progressive projects to not only preserve natural areas, but to restore other areas to their previous natural health.

Greenpeace
http://www.greenpeace.org/international/
A buzz word that often triggers mixed reactions. For years, I have used their consumer portal to evaluate consumer products for daily living as well as office products. To express our thanks to Greenpeace for their work in this area and their environmental goals, we support them as well.

B.A.U.M. Germany
http://www.baumev.de/baumev/home/index.php
In 2008, we were recognised as Germany's 3rd most environmentally-friendly office through our practice of using only recycled materials, environmentally-conscious, light-spot renovations, and social responsibility. We wish to thank B.A.U.M. for this award and promise that there will be more to come.

We can make a difference in every action, every word, and everyday - because it just feels good!
