Sunflower Seeds Oct 4, 2019

Christophe,

What you got there is a pack of sunflower seeds, roasted and salted, but most likely unshelled.

Christophe,

Yes, wherestip is right. This is a pack of dry roasted sunflower seeds.

Also, you may want to know:
_Ingredients: sunflower seeds, salt
_Best if used within 8 months from date of manufacture (which is printed on the back).

It's from Hong-Kong, because Taiwanese still use the traditional Chinese characters, but these are simplified ones.
Anyway, please be aware of the preservation date: they say 8 months.

It always amuses me when I review translation tests for Hong Kong Chinese and find it entirely in Simplified Chinese. Saves a lot of time and effort, that's for sure.

Did you mean you failed these tests without reading them through?

Many thanx to all of you!! Oct 4, 2019

To tell you the truth I hadn't opened it.. it felt like a paste inside so I didn't want to open it and not be able to use it quick enough.
I just opened it and it was vaccum packaging. I tasted one and it seems quite ok. I hope I make it through the night

Automatic 0. Same deal if you provide a Simplified Chinese translation for Taiwan, or a Traditional Chinese translation for Mainland China. If you don't even know what language you're supposed to translate into, don't translate into it.

NOT HONG KONG NOR TAIWAN.

It's ZHCN.

And for some others:
A little bit mutual respect may do us nothing harm.
Being a native doesn't automatically qualify ourselves to be an expert in Chinese, and not to mention those hilarious answers and final choices in kudoz we have been witnessing.

A little respect Oct 7, 2019

I know nothing about Chinese, whether simplified or not. And I am a bit sad having to write these lines. Is the world is such a bad state that people take advantage of whatever opportunity to verge on the negative side of everything?

I surely wouldn't appreciate my post about a somewhat innocent question to be a plateform for nationalism or settlement of accounts of anykind.

If you're not busy enough translating, go vent your frustration or anger somewhere else. Thank y

Till now this post has been ONLY about Chinese languages.

Lots of LSPs around the world get it all confused by its variants and targeted markets. Thus there have being discussions among Chinese translators long ago.

I didn't like the idea that other peers did NOT clarify to the point so I brought it up and called for a mutual respect from all of us.

But when you leave your post as quoted, it makes me feel disappointed to speak it out for you.

I was not mentioning you LIZ LI.

As I said before, I have zero knowledge of the chinese language which I would love to embrace at one point in my life. But I have this feeling that a very innocent question about poppy seeds has drifted towards something quite different. Maybe I'm wrong. If so, please do ignore my lines.
