Hello,
The Eu issued a press release in February this year, explaining their ongoing dearth of English native-speakers in their translation booths. Here is a link to the article, so as to refresh your memories:
My question is the following: has anyone heard of anything new since this press release? Is there a concours for English translators planned in 2010 (nothing on the EPSO website yet, just wondering if someone has any inside information) ?

Thanks for this !
Regards.
A booth makes me assume it's for interpreters. Translators tend to sit in cubbyholes.

The article makes no mention of booths or cubbyholes, but it is about translators. No doubt a similar situation would exist with interpreters.
It points up the need for native English speakers to study other languages more, and a wider spectrum of languages.
