Just another heads up on scammers MO. They will offer you work to translate documents (they’re also offering these same documents to other translators). When you receive the documents they will tell you they have to check with their “client” (there’s no client) for approval of your fee. A day later or sooner they get back to you telling you they approved your fee. More than likely they will send you a cashiers check. Your scenario doesn't work. because this way the scammer couldn't earn any money at all.
The scenario is different. They send you a check stating an amount that is a little bit higher than your fee. Then they tell you that it was mistake or what have you and ask you to refund the overshooting money to them. So a good advice is not "don't deposit the check" but "don't send money to them".
