Hi!

So, I'm currently applying to Videogames translation agencies, reading articles and forums about companies on the lookout for new specialists, seeking out any hints, tips, etc., but it seems my strategy is nearing its exhaustion - I'm just starting to stumble on all the same "giants" of 1-2 pages of Google; those trying to help me give all the same links to ancient abandoned resources, job hubs, and alike.

This being said, I'm open for any new ideas or hints in this area = ) Maybe you'd happen to know some less known job agregators or maybe even whole new tactics of searching for agencies with specific field of expertise. Thanks in advance!

Best,

Alex

You probably searched these already, but for the sake of future readers:
ProZ.com's Blue Board is a list of translation agencies. Unfortunately you'd have to visit their sites individually to see if they do games translation.

And, there are a number of companies registered at ProZ.com that claim "Software (games)" as one of their specialties:

Yep, already checked those. BlueBoard is great, but being there long enough you could also notice sorta "rotation" of the same big companies. Although, it's not that severe as in search engines.

The second option gives a lot of "dead" companies unfortunately, like 40%. Well, thanks anyway = )

I don't wanna be a party pooper, but it's very unlikely this will work for you - or anyone else.

Agencies/PM often already have linguists they like to work with, and there's no chance they will think "well, I know translator X for a couple years and he's very reliable, but I will totally assign job to someone else I don't know just because".

One thing you may try is contacting game developers directly in their Career pages. They often post about job openings - plus, the

I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks, that's actually a good idea. I just bet those will be indie devs mostly - medium to big companies probably collaborate with established translation agencies.
