Bio
I am fully bi-cultural and bilingual, and equally competent in written and spoken English and Spanish. I was raised in an English and Spanish bilingual bi-cultural home, was educated at Markham College, a British school in Lima, Peru, and attended the Peruvian Naval Academy (B.S. Engineering & Naval Science) and Tulane University (B.S. Electrical Engineering and M.B.A.) in the U.S.A.

Since 1968, I have prepared thousands of original documents and letters in both English and Spanish, including on-the-job translation work, and written many short opinion articles in these languages.

I have performed many dozens of translations for NGOs such as CARE, USAID, and CHEMONICS, in collaboration with other translators, having also independently translated for CESAL the Spanish NGO in Peru, and currently do independent translations for private real estate organizations such as COLLIERS International (COLLIERS Inversiones del Perú S.A.C.), and R Propiedades S.A.C., with hundreds of completed works from Spanish to English and vice versa. In addition, I have translated for FIBRA Fondo de Inversión en Bienes Raíces, and Peru Green Building Council.

I also have done independent legal contract translation work from Spanish to English for Estudio Ferrero Abogados (now Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría), a leading law firm in Lima, Peru, and other translation work for Estudio Navarro, Ferrero & Pazos Abogados, and for Estudio Echecopar, another prestigious local law firm. In addition, I have translated for CAF - BANCO DE DESARROLLO DE AMÉRICA LATINA (CAF - DEVELOPMENT BANK OF LATIN AMERICA).

I have translated heavy equipment manuals for manufacturers, and independently contributed with translations for websites in academia and government, including that of CENTRUM Católica, la Escuela de Negocios de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (the Business School of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru), and that of the Ministerio de Comercio Exterior y Turismo (MINCETUR) with hundreds of documents, and have translated a 400-page book on breast-cancer research from Spanish to English for ONCOSALUD and the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas (INEN) the Peruvian National Cancer Institute. I have also translated legal contracts and other material from Spanish to English for Central Media S.A.C., a leading Peruvian media company with international ties.

I am a recent Director of Admission, Registration and Academic Support at CENTRUM Católica, and doctoral student in their Master's and double DBA program in Strategic Business Administration with Maastricht School of Management of the Netherlands. I simultaneously held the post of Finance Professor and Researcher, and was Secretary of the Honor Committee, and of the Scholarships Committee. CENTRUM Católica has the most successful Spanish/English MBA program in the country, and all classes by Maastricht professors are conducted in English.

MORE ON EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I attended Markham College, a British school in Lima, Peru (Kinder - Form 12) with an 18-month stint at St. Theresa Catholic School in Miami. I completed the Peruvian Naval Academy's program in Engineering and Naval Science (B.S.) at the top of my class in 1968, and was awarded the American Embassy English Prize and four other prizes out of the eight awarded my graduating class. I was the ranking member of the Naval Academy's Military Champion Pistol & Rifle Team, a member of its Fencing Team, the Director of its Yearbook (Orto), and the Naval Academy Flag Bearer.

The Peruvian Naval Academy's foreign travel educational program included seagoing navigation aboard the BAP "Independencia", a professionally maintained World War II U.S. "Liberty Ship", on Summer Cruises, from Callao, Peru. My first cruise was to Puerto Balboa, Panama Canal, and Puerto Colón, in Panama, and crossing the Atlantic Ocean, to Lisbon, and Fátima, in Portugal, and once in the Mediterranean Sea, Cartagena, Toledo, and to Madrid, by air, in Spain, including a reception at the Royal Palace hosted by Prince Juan Carlos de Borbón, and on to Marseille, Toulon, St. Tropez, in France, and Naples, Rome, and Vatican City, including an audience with Pope Paul VI, then Haifa, Jerusalem, where we paraded, in the first peace-time military march in the city, and Tel Aviv, in Israel, and Casablanca in Morocco, and again, crossing the Atlantic Ocean, Oranjestad, in Aruba, Puerto Colón, Panama Canal, Puerto Balboa, and Callao, from January to March 1965.

My second cruise on BAP "Independencia" was from Callao, to San Francisco, California, and then crossing the Pacific Ocean, to Honolulu in Oahu, Hawaii, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where we were hosted by the Taiwanese Navy at thier Naval Academy, where we were honored with an outstanding military rifle exhibition Cadet parade, and on to Tokyo, and Yokohama, where we visited a very large shipyard, where a 50,000 MT DWT oil tanker under construction, was near completion, and to the holy city of Kyoto, in Japan, and Callao, from January to March 1966.. En route to Japan, the entire Corps of Cadets, plus seemingly, the Officers and Sailors' Crew, witnessed the appearance, for many hours, of a large bright celestial sphere tracking the ship from the sky.

My third cruise was aboard the ARA "La Argentina", twin to the Peruvian Navy flagship BAP "Miguel Grau", sailing from Buenos Aires to Bahía Blanca, Argentina, and to Montevideo, Uruguay, together with hundreds of Naval, Army, and Airforce Cadets from practically all South American countries, having been commissioned as the Peruvian Naval Academy's representative to this outstanding summer cruise, and flown from Lima to Ezeiza International airport in Buenos Aires on a diplomatic passport on a single-passenger Aeroperú flight. In Buenos Aires I was hosted by the Peruvian Navy Attaché and his family, and in Montevideo, we were hosted in a diplomatic reception by the Peruvian Ambassador. On my return to the Peruvian Naval Academy, I was charged with the initial training to the new undergraduate class of Cadets.

My fourth cruise on BAP "Independencia" was from Callao, to Puntarenas, visiting San José, in Costa Rica, where we paraded, and on to Acapulco, México, and to San Diego, Long Beach, and San Francisco, California, and Callao.

I was admitted as a Junior to the Electrical Engineering programs at Cornell University, Georgia Institute of Technology and Tulane University, as a Sophomore at Stanford University, and as a Freshman at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Awarded the Walter C. Teagle Scholarship (Standard Oil Company of New Jersey) with my choice of University among MIT, Cornell, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Tulane University. Admitted to the Master's in Operations Research program at Tulane University. I simultaneously earned two degrees at Tulane University (B.S. in Engineering and a two-year M.B.A.) in 1973, standing at or near the top of my two graduating classes, and married a U.S. citizen with whom I had and raised two children in Oregon and Lima. I had a second marriage with a U.S. citizen with whom I had and raised a child in Michigan.

I have been part of the management and/or executive teams in several Peruvian and U.S. corporations including Procter & Gamble (Programmer/Analyst, Information Systems Coordinator, Financial Forecasting Manager, in Lima, Peru), Dean Witter Reynolds (Registered Representative/Series 7 License and Health & Life Insurance License, in Portland, OR), Automated Handling Systems (CFO, in San Francisco, CA), City of Beaverton (Data Processing Manager, in Portland, OR), The Principal Financial Group (Registered Representative/Series 7 License and Health & Life Insurance License, in Portland, OR), Navegación Andina (F&A Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager, Director, in Lima, Peru), Consorcio Peruano de Ahorro Previo (Assistant General Manager, Executive Committee Member, in Lima, Peru), Cisternas y Remolcadores (Director, in Lima, Peru), and Marine Terminal Computer Systems (Business Manager, San Francisco, CA). Entrepreneurial ventures, Maritime Commerce Company, Inc. (Marcomco) in Portland, OR and Lima, Peru, Magna International, Inc. and Barbecue Party in a Can, SP, in Portland, OR, and UniGlobe Projects & Services Ltd in Lima, Peru. Founder of the Inter-American Development Capital Institute, a Subchapter S corporation in Delaware, in 1996, the core of "A Partnership for Development with the United States of America," an entrepreneurial venture aimed at promoting comprehensive socioeconomic development in The Americas.
