I've been applying higher rates to new clients and I plan to do the same in 2019... | | | Kay Denney France Local time: 12:43 French to English I'm not sure | Oct 27, 2018 |
I know there's no point raising them for several of my clients who would simply stop sending me work. In fact there's one client who has started asking my systematically for my best rate, and who doesn't send me as much work any more, absolutely no point trying with them. I'll probably keep them at the same rates as last year. I might charge more to new clients or ones I wish to discourage, for whatever reason.

For the moment, I'm going to keep them as they are, even though I'm thinking about applying some higher rates just for a few specific clients.
Maybe. Depends on the client. | | | Mario Freitas Brazil Local time: 08:43 Member (2014) English to Portuguese + ... For some clients | Oct 27, 2018 |
I will not mention it to my clients abroad. The current trend is to lower rates, so let's try to keep them as they are. Regarding my Brazilian clients, I do have two or three clients that kept the same rates for over two years now. These rate were already low enough two years ago. With a 10% inflation in two years, I'm already in a position where it's better not to work than to work for peanuts. So I'll e-mail only these clients on the first of January stating my new minimum rate. If they ... See more I will not mention it to my clients abroad. Almost all my clients are from abroad and I manage 2 different local currencies. Not considering inflation, in one year, I had increases of 15% and 110%(!) due to currency variations. And my current rates in USD, GBP and EUR are pretty fair, so I'm not planning to increase them. What I'll do is trying to find new clients with higher rates, but I'm always doing this. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Are you planning to adjust your rates in 2019?
