Resumen
Existen múltiples índices de felicidad en psicología positiva y economía de la felicidad. Con base en escalas univariables, reflejan más una visión hedónica que una perspectiva eudemónica compleja de la realidad social y del comportamiento humano, por lo que resultan insuficientes para el ámbito de la sociología.
Este artículo propone un modelo multidimensional que incluye tres dimensiones: una ética, una afectiva y otra valorativa del sistema de bienestar. Toma elementos de la teoría de valores de Shalom Schwartz, de la investigación sobre bienestar emocional de Felicia Huppert y del estudio de Jacques Thomassen de sociedades con sistemas políticos y de bienestar consolidados. Se basa, además, en la relación entre aspectos afectivos y comportamiento altruista analizada por la neurociencia, y en la reflexión crítica de Eduardo Bericat y Amitai Etzioni sobre la necesidad de evitar simplificaciones a la hora de estudiar la felicidad.
Confirma el modelo propuesto a través de un Exploratory Factor Analysis que analiza 28 variables de la European Social Survey (ESS). A partir de los resultados que se obtienen, propone un índice multidimensional para medir la felicidad en democracias occidentales con sistemas de bienestar consolidados que incluye: valoración y confianza en el sistema de bienestar, altruismo, estados emocionales positivos, egocentrismo y estados emocionales negativos.
Translation - English The sociology of happiness: A multidimensional model for measuring eudaimonic happiness in Western democracies with consolidated welfare systems
Abstract
There are multiple happiness indices used in positive psychology and the economics of happiness. Based on univariable scales, they reflect a more hedonic view rather than a complex eudaimonic perspective on social reality and human behaviour, which renders them unfit for purpose in the field of sociology.
This paper proposes a three-part multidimensional model containing an ethical dimension, an affective dimension and another which evaluates the welfare system. It takes elements from Shalom Schwartz’s theory of values, from Felicia Huppert’s research on emotional well-being, and from Jacques Thomassen’s study of societies with consolidated political and welfare systems. It is also based on neuroscientific analysis of the relationship between affective factors and altruistic behaviour, and on the critical reflections of Eduardo Bericat and Amitai Etzioni on the need to avoid simplification when studying happiness.
We validate our model using an Exploratory Factor Analysis that looks at 28 variables from the European Social Survey (ESS). Based on the results obtained, a multidimensional index is proposed for measuring happiness in Western democracies with consolidated welfare systems. This includes the value placed on the welfare system and confidence in it, altruism, positive emotional states, egocentrism and negative emotional states.

A COACH, about thirty years old, athletic and dressed in mountain gear, is speaking to them from the ground.

...Víctor Corrado most of all. He has just bought two million renewables bonds to test us out...and if it goes well, he’ll be ours...
Suddenly, Juan Carlos realises he has a spider on his shoulder and starts swatting at it in blind panic. All of them look at him, stony-faced.

Je vais vous guider dans la tombe de Toutankhamon. Vous ne pouvez pas rêver meilleur guide, puisque c'est moi qui l'ai découverte le 4 novembre 1922. J'étais alors âgé de 48 ans... Permettez-moi de me présenter. Je m'appelle Howard Carter. Même si je n'ai jamais suivi un cours dans les universités, mes états de service me permettent, je crois, de me prétendre archéologue.
Comme vous le serez sans doute, vous aussi, j'ai été fasciné par l’or et les trésors de ce tombeau qui m'est apparu après cinq années de recherches et plus de trois mille ans dans les entrailles de la terre. J'ai mis ensuite dix années à le vider, pièce par pièce, et j'ai découvert alors que cette demeure d’éternité contenait aussi un trésor d'une autre sorte que je veux partager avec vous : la connaissance ! La connaissance des rites funéraires chez les pharaons, mais aussi la connaissance de leur mode de vie et même du quotidien des Égyptiens d'il y a plus de trois mille ans. Je vous parlerai de tout ça. Mais il y a encore autre chose...
Toutankhamon est devenu le plus célèbre de tous les pharaons. Il est monté à l'âge de 8 ans sur le trône le plus puissant de son temps. Il a régné pendant dix ans et il est mort à seulement 18 ans. Mais chaque fois qu'on évoque son souvenir, on ne parle que de sa tombe et de ses trésors. Tutankhamun became the most famous of all the pharohs. At the age of 8, he ascended to the most powerful throne of his era. He reigned for ten years and died when he was only 18. But every time his memory is evoked, we speak only of his tomb and its treasures. His father, who was a unique pharaoh and is famous in his own right, is sometimes discussed, but in a different way which I will explain to you later. But where was Tutankhamun born? Who was his mother? In what kind of environment did he grow up? Did he have any brothers? Any sisters? That is something that we never seem to talk about. But I will also tell you this child king’s story.
