1. WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
is an inhaler (a pressurised inhalation suspension) which contains two active ingredients:
• Fluticasone propionate which belongs to a group of medicines called steroids. Steroids help to reduce swelling and inflammation in the lungs.
• Formoterol fumarate dihydrate which belongs to a group of medicines called long-acting beta2-agonists. Beta2-agonists help the airways in your lungs to stay open, making it easier for you to breathe.
Together these two active ingredients help to improve your breathing.
This medicine helps prevent asthma attacks. However, it does not work if you are already having an attack i.e. you are already wheezing and breathless. You will need to use a fast acting ‘reliever’ medicine such as salbutamol if this happens.
2. BEFORE YOU USE
Do not use if you:
• are allergic (hypersensitive) to fluticasone propionate, formoterol fumarate or any of the other ingredients (see section 6 ‘Further Information’).
Take special care with
Before treatment with this inhaler tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have:
• tuberculosis (TB) now or in the past. Symptoms include a persistent cough often with blood streaked phlegm, fever, tiredness, loss of appetite, loss of weight and night sweats;
• an infection of the lungs or chest;
• heart problems such as problems with the blood flow to your heart or narrowing of one of your heart valves (the aortic valve), heart failure which can cause shortness of breath or ankle swelling, a condition where the heart muscle is enlarged (hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy), an irregular heart beat (cardiac arrhythmias) or if you have been told that your heart trace is abnormal (prolongation of the QTc interval);
• an abnormal bulging of a blood vessel wall (an aneurysm);
• diabetes;
• high blood pressure;
• an overactive thyroid gland which can cause increased appetite, weight loss or sweating (thyrotoxicosis);
• low blood levels of potassium which can cause muscle weakness, twitching or abnormal heart rhythm (hypokalaemia);
• poor adrenal gland function (if your adrenal gland is not working properly you may have symptoms such as weakness, weight loss, dizziness, feeling or being sick) or a tumor of the adrenal gland (phaeochromocytoma);
• liver problems.
If you are going to have an operation or are extremely stressed, please tell your doctor as you may need additional steroid medicine to control your asthma.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. If you use this inhaler with some other medicines the effect of this inhaler or the other medicine may be changed.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking:
• medicines known as beta-blockers (such as atenolol to treat high blood pressure or timolol eyedrops to treat glaucoma);
• certain other medicines used to treat asthma or breathing conditions (such as theophylline or aminophylline);
• medicines containing adrenaline or related substances (including other beta-agonists like salbutamol or beta-antagonists including atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol, timolol);
• medicines to treat allergic reactions (antihistamines);
• medicines to treat high blood pressure or fluid build up by increasing the amount of urine produced (diuretics);
• medicines used to treat heart failure (such as digoxin);
• medicines to treat abnormal heart rhythms (such as quinidine, disopyramide, procainamide);
• medicines to treat symptoms of depression or mental disorders such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (for example phenelzine and isocarboxazid), tricyclic antidepressants (for example amitriptyline and imipramine), or you have taken any of these types of medicine in the last two weeks;
• medicines used to treat psychiatric or mental disorders (phenothiazines or antipsychotics);
• other medicines containing steroids;
• antifungal medicines (such as ketaconazole or itraconazole);
• medicines used to treat viral infections including HIV (for example ritonavir, atazanavir, indinavir, nelfinavir or saquinavir);
• antibiotics (such as clarithromycin, telithromycin or furazolidone);
• medicine to treat Parkinson’s disease (levodopa);
• medicine to treat an underactive thyroid gland (levothyroxine);
• medicine to treat Hodgkin’s disease (procarbazine);
• medicine to induce labour (oxytocin).
If you are going to have an operation under a general aneasthetic, please tell the doctor at the hospital that you are using this inhaler.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding talk to your doctor about using your inhaler. Your doctor will advise you if you should take this medicine.
Driving and using machines
This medicine is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or use machines.
Important information about some of the ingredients of
This medicine contains small amounts of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100 mg per dose. It also contains a very small amount of sodium cromoglicate however patients who are currently taking cromoglicate (used to treat asthma, allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis) should continue as normal.
3. HOW TO USE
Always use this inhaler exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age
The usual dose is two inhalations twice a day, that is two puffs (actuations) in the morning and two in the evening. Your doctor will prescibe the dose required to treat your asthma. Adolescents should not use the highest strength inhaler ( 250 microgram /10 microgram).
Instructions for use
Your doctor, or pharmacist will show you how to use your inhaler properly. The medicine is contained in an aerosol can (see Diagram 1) which sits inside a plastic dispenser (also known as an actuator). The actuator also has a counter to tell you how many puffs (actuations) are left after it has been primed. When this is getting near to zero, you should contact your doctor for a replacement inhaler.
Before you use your inhaler for the first time or if it hasn’t been used for more than 3 days or if it has been exposed to freezing conditions
If your inhaler is new or it hasn’t been used for more than 3 days then it must be ‘primed’ to ensure it works properly and gives you the correct dose.
If your inhaler has been exposed to freezing temperatures it must be allowed to warm at room temperature for 30 minutes then it must be ‘primed’ to ensure it works properly and gives you the correct dose.
To prime the inhaler
• Remove the mouthpiece cover and shake the inhaler well.
• Point the mouthpiece away from you and release one puff (actuation) by pressing down on the aerosol can. This step should be performed 4 times.
Your inhaler should always be shaken immediately before use.
Using your inhaler
If you feel you are getting breathless or wheezy while using , you should continue to use but go to see your doctor as soon as possible, as you may need additional treatment. Once your asthma is well controlled your doctor may consider it appropriate to gradually reduce the dose of .
1. Remove the mouthpiece cover and check that your inhaler is clean and free from any dust. The inhaler should be shaken immediately before releasing each puff (actuation).
2. Sit upright or stand. Breathe out as far as is comfortable, slowly and as deeply as possible.
3. Hold your inhaler upright (as shown in Diagram 3) and put the mouthpiece in your mouth with your lips around it. Hold the inhaler with your thumb on the base of the mouthpiece and finger(s) on the top of the inhaler. Do not bite the mouthpiece.
4. Breathe in slowly and deeply through your mouth and, at the same time, press down on the aerosol can to release one puff (actuation).
5. Hold your breath for as long as is comfortable (ideally about 10 seconds). Finally, remove the inhaler from your mouth and breathe out slowly. Do not breathe out into the inhaler.
6. Slowly repeat steps 2 to 5.
7. Replace the mouthpiece cover.
You can practise in front of a mirror. If you see a ‘mist’ from the top of the inhaler or around your mouth when you use your inhaler then you may not have inhaled your medicine properly. Take another dose by repeating from Step 2 above.
Always rinse your mouth out with water or brush your teeth after you have taken your inhaler and spit out the residue. This may help prevent you developing a sore mouth and throat or voice alterations.
If you have weak hands it may be easier to hold the inhaler in both hands placing both index fingers on the aerosol can and both thumbs on the base of the inhaler.
If you have difficulty using your inhaler your doctor may also give you a device called a spacer, such as an AeroChamber Plus®, to help you take your medicine properly. Your doctor or pharmacist will advise you how to use your spacer device with your inhaler. It should also come with instructions for use and care.
Caring for your inhaler
It is important to clean your inhaler weekly. To clean your inhaler:
• Remove the mouthpiece cover.
• Do not remove the aerosol can from the actuator.
• Wipe the inside and outside of the mouthpiece and the actuator with a clean, dry cloth or tissue.
• Replace the mouthpiece cover.
If you use more than you should
If you take more of your medicine than you should, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice. You may suffer from severe chest pain (angina), high or low blood pressure, a headache, muscle cramps, difficulty in sleeping, nervousness, a dry mouth, a loss of appetite, seizures, fits or convulsions. You may feel shaky, light headed, faint, tired, sick or generally unwell. You may also notice changes in the rate of your heart beat and your blood may have low levels of potassium or an increase in the amount of sugar in your blood.
If you have taken more than the prescribed dose for a long period of time, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist for advice. This is because large doses may reduce the amount of steroid hormones produced by the adrenal gland (see section 4).
If you forget to use
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
If you stop using
It is very important that you take this inhaler every day as directed by your doctor even if you feel well as it will help to control your condition. If you want to stop using your inhaler talk to your doctor first. Your doctor will tell you how to do this, usually by decreasing the dose gradually so that you do not trigger an asthma attack.
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, this inhaler can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
All medicines can cause allergic reactions, although serious allergic reactions are reported rarely. Tell your doctor immediately if you get any sudden swelling of the eyelids, face or lips, rash or itching especially those covering your whole body, low blood pressure or any sudden changes in your breathing pattern such as increased wheezing or shortness of breath.
As with other inhalers, your breathing may worsen immediately after using your inhaler. If this happens stop using your inhaler and use your quick acting ‘reliever’ inhaler. Contact your doctor straight away. Your doctor will assess you and may start you on a different course of treatment. You should carry your ‘reliever’ inhaler with you at all times.
Uncommon side effects (probably affecting less than 1 in 100 people using this inhaler)
• An increase in the amount of sugar in your blood. If you are diabetic you may need to check your blood sugar more often and adjust your usual diabetic treatment.
• Worsening of asthma.
• Headache.
• Shaking.
• An irregular heartbeat or palpitations.
• Dizziness.
• Changes in taste or voice alteration.
• Dry mouth, sore or irritated throat.
• Swelling of hands, ankles or feet.
Rare side effects (probably affecting less than 1 in 1000 people using this inhaler)
• Thrush, a fungal infection in the mouth and throat.
• Inflammation of the sinuses (sinusitis).
• Fast heartbeat.
• Chest pain associated with heart disease.
• Muscle spasms.
• Coughing or shortness of breath.
• Diarrhoea.
• Indigestion.
• A feeling of dizziness or ‘spinning’.
• Abnormal dreams or difficulty in sleeping.
• Agitation.
• Rash.
• High blood pressure.
• A feeling of unusual weakness.
The following side effects are associated with formoterol fumarate but they have not been reported during clinical trials with this inhaler:
• Low blood levels of potassium which can cause muscle weakness, twitching or abnormal heart rhythm.
• Abnormal heart trace (QTc interval prolongation).
• High levels of lactic acid in the blood.
Inhaled steroids can affect the normal production of steroid hormones in your body, particularly if you use high doses for a long time. The effects include:
• changes in bone mineral density (thinning of the bones);
• cataracts (clouding of the lens in the eye);
• glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye);
• bruising or thinning of the skin;
• an increased chance of catching an infection;
• slowing of the rate of growth of children and adolescents;
• a round (moon shaped) face;
• an effect on the adrenal gland (a small gland next to the kidney).
These effects are much less likely to happen with inhaled steroids than with steroid tablets.
If any of the side effects become serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. HOW TO STORE
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use this inhaler after the expiry date which is stated on the label, foil pouch and carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. EXP: 08-2020 means that you should not use the inhaler after the last day of that month i.e. August 2020.
Do not store above 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze. If the inhaler is exposed to freezing conditions it must be allowed to warm at room temperature for 30 minutes then primed before use (see section 3 “How to use…”). Do not use the inhaler if it has been removed from the foil pouch for over 3 months, or if the dose indicator reads ‘0’.
Do not expose to temperatures higher than 50°C. The aerosol can contains a pressurised liquid so do not puncture, break or burn the can even when apparently empty. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
6. FURTHER INFORMATION
What contains
The active substances are fluticasone propionate and formoterol fumarate dihydrate. There are three different strengths of inhaler available. Each puff (actuation) contains either 50 micrograms fluticasone propionate and 5 micrograms formoterol fumarate dihydrate, 125 micrograms fluticasone propionate and 5 micrograms formoterol fumarate dihydrate or 250 micrograms fluticasone propionate and 10 micrograms formoterol fumarate dihydrate.
The other ingredients are:
• Sodium cromoglicate
• Ethanol
• Apaflurane HFA 227 (propellant)
What looks like and the contents of the pack
These inhalers are small aerosol cans containing a white to off white liquid suspension fitted with a metering valve. The aerosol cans are inserted into grey and white plastic dispensers (actuators) with a light grey mouthpiece cover. Each inhaler contains 120 puffs (actuations). There is one inhaler in a pack.

1. WAARVOOR WORDT DIT MIDDEL GEBRUIKT?
Xxxx is een inhalator (een aërosolverstuiving) met twee werkzame stoffen:
• Fluticasonpropionaat, dat deel uitmaakt van een groep geneesmiddelen die steroïden worden genoemd. Steroïden helpen zwellingen en ontstekingen in de longen te verminderen.
• Formoterolfumaraatdihydraat, dat deel uitmaakt van een groep geneesmiddelen die langwerkende bèta2-agonisten worden genoemd. Bèta2-agonisten helpen de luchtwegen in de longen open te houden waardoor u makkelijker kunt ademen.
Samen zorgen deze twee werkzame stoffen ervoor dat u beter kunt ademhalen.
Dit geneesmiddel helpt astma-aanvallen voorkomen. Het werkt niet tijdens een daadwerkelijke aanval, dus als uw ademhaling al piept en u al buiten adem bent. Dan heeft u een snelwerkende ‘verlichter’ nodig, zoals salbutamol.
2. WANNEER MAG U DIT MIDDEL NIET GEBRUIKEN OF MOET U EXTRA VOORZICHTIG ZIJN?
Wanneer mag u dit middel niet gebruiken?
• U bent allergisch (overgevoelig/hypersensitief) voor fluticasonpropionaat, formoterolfumaraat of een van de andere stoffen die in dit geneesmiddel zitten. Deze stoffen kunt u vinden onder punt 6.
Wanneer moet u extra voorzichtig zijn met dit middel?
Voordat u begint met deze inhalatorbehandeling moet u uw arts of apotheker inlichten:
• Als u tuberculose (tbc) heeft of heeft gehad. De verschijnselen zijn veel hoesten (vaak zit er ook bloed door het slijm dat u ophoest), koorts, vermoeidheid, weinig eetlust, gewichtsverlies en nachtelijk zweten.
• Als u een infectie in uw longen of borstkas heeft.
• Als u hartproblemen heeft, zoals problemen met de bloedtoevoer naar uw hart, vernauwing van een van uw hartkleppen (aortaklep), hartfalen (waardoor u kortademig bent of gezwollen enkels krijgt), verdikking van de hartspier (hypertrofische obstructieve cardiomyopathie), onregelmatige hartslag (aritmie) of als u is verteld dat u een afwijkende hartslag heeft (verlengde QTc-interval).
• Als u een ongewone uitstulping heeft in de wand van een bloedvat (aneurysma).
• Als u diabetes heeft.
• Als u hoge bloeddruk heeft.
• Als u een overactieve schildklier heeft (thyreotoxicose), wat toenemende eetlust, gewichtsverlies of veel zweten kan veroorzaken.
• Als u weinig kalium in uw bloed heeft (hypokaliëmie), wat spierzwakte, spierspasmen of een afwijkend hartritme kan veroorzaken.
• Als uw bijnier niet goed werkt. Symptomen van een slecht werkende bijnier zijn algehele zwakte, gewichtsverlies, duizeligheid, misselijkheid of ziek gevoel. Of als u een tumor aan de bijnier heeft (feochromocytoom).
• Als u leverproblemen heeft.
Vertel het uw arts als u een operatie moet ondergaan of als u erg gespannen bent. Het kan zijn dat u aanvullende steroïden nodig heeft om uw astma onder controle te houden.
Gebruikt u nog andere geneesmiddelen?
Gebruikt u naast Xxxx nog andere geneesmiddelen, of heeft u dat kort geleden gedaan? Vertel dat dan uw arts of apotheker. Dat geldt ook voor geneesmiddelen waar u geen voorschrift voor nodig heeft. Als u deze inhalator gebruikt met bepaalde andere geneesmiddelen kan het effect van de inhalator of het andere geneesmiddel veranderen.
Vertel het uw arts of apotheker als u één of meerdere van de volgende geneesmiddelen gebruikt:
• geneesmiddelen die bekend staan als bèta-blokkers (zoals atenolol tegen hoge bloeddruk of timolol oogdruppels tegen glaucoom);
• bepaalde andere geneesmiddelen die worden gebruikt om astma of ademhalingsstoornissen te behandelen (zoals theofylline of aminofylline);
• geneesmiddelen die adrenaline of gerelateerde stoffen bevatten (waaronder andere bèta-agonisten zoals salbutamol, of bèta-antagonisten zoals atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol, timolol);
• geneesmiddelen die worden gebruikt ter behandeling van allergische reacties (antihistaminica);
• geneesmiddelen die zorgen dat er meer urine wordt geproduceerd en zo hoge bloeddruk of vochtophoping tegengaan (diuretica);
• geneesmiddelen tegen hartfalen (zoals digoxine);
• geneesmiddelen tegen hartritmestoornissen (zoals kinidine, disopyramide, procaïnamide);
• geneesmiddelen tegen depressie of psychische stoornissen, zoals monoamineoxidaseremmers (bijvoorbeeld fenelzine en isocarboxazide), tricyclische antidepressiva (bijvoorbeeld amitriptyline en imipramine), ook als u dit soort geneesmiddelen heeft gebruikt in de afgelopen twee weken;
• geneesmiddelen die worden gebruikt om psychiatrische of psychische stoornissen te behandelen (fenothiazinen of antipsychotica);
• andere geneesmiddelen die steroïden bevatten;
• antischimmelmiddelen (zoals ketoconazol of itraconazol);
• geneesmiddelen die worden gebruikt ter behandeling van virale infecties als hiv (bijvoorbeeld ritonavir, atazanavir, indinavir, nelfinavir of saquinavir);
• antibiotica (zoals claritromycine, telithromycine of furazolidon);
• geneesmiddelen ter behandeling van ziekte van Parkinson (levodopa);
• geneesmiddelen ter behandeling van een trage schildklier (levothyroxine);
• geneesmiddelen ter behandeling van ziekte van Hodgkin (procarbazine);
• geneesmiddelen die weeën opwekken (oxytocine).
Vertel uw arts in het ziekenhuis dat u deze inhalator gebruikt als u een operatie onder algehele verdoving moet ondergaan.
Zwangerschap en borstvoeding
Wilt u zwanger worden, bent u zwanger of geeft u borstvoeding? Neem dan contact op met uw arts of apotheker voordat u geneesmiddelen gebruikt. Uw arts weet of u dit geneesmiddel dan kunt gebruiken.
Rijvaardigheid en het gebruik van machines
Dit geneesmiddel heeft geen of weinig invloed op uw rijvaardigheid en het gebruik van machines.
Stoffen in dit middel waarmee u rekening moet houden
Dit geneesmiddel bevat een kleine hoeveelheid ethanol (alcohol), minder dan 100 mg per dosis. Het bevat ook een zeer kleine hoeveelheid natriumcromoglicaat, maar patiënten die nu cromoglicaat gebruiken (tegen astma, allergische rhinitis en allergische conjunctivitis) kunnen daar gewoon mee doorgaan.
3. HOE GEBRUIKT U DIT MIDDEL?
Gebruik dit middel altijd precies zoals uw arts of apotheker u dat heeft verteld. Twijfelt u over het juiste gebruik? Neem dan contact op met uw arts of apotheker.
Gebruik bij volwassenen en adolescenten ouder dan 12 jaar
De gebruikelijke dosering is tweemaal per dag twee inhalaties, dus twee pufs (verstuivingen) in de ochtend en twee in de avond. Uw arts schrijft de dosis voor die nodig is om uw astma te behandelen. Adolescenten mogen de sterkste inhalator (Xxxx 250 microgram/10 microgram) niet gebruiken.
Gebruiksaanwijzing
Uw arts of apotheker zal u laten zien hoe u de inhalator correct gebruikt. Het geneesmiddel zit in een aërosol spuitbusje (zie afbeelding 1) in een plastic houder (ook wel actuator of verstuiver genoemd). De actuator heeft ook een teller die bijhoudt hoeveel pufs (verstuivingen) er nog in zitten nadat het apparaatje is klaargemaakt voor gebruik. Als dit bijna nul aangeeft, moet u contact opnemen met uw arts om de inhalator te vervangen.

Voordat u de inhalator voor de eerste keer gaat gebruiken, als u het apparaatje meer dan 3 dagen niet heeft gebruikt, of als het is blootgesteld aan temperaturen beneden het vriespunt
Als de inhalator nieuw is of als u hem meer dan 3 dagen niet heeft gebruikt, moet u hem klaarmaken voor gebruik om ervoor te zorgen dat hij goed werkt en de juiste dosering afgeeft.
Als de inhalator is blootgesteld aan temperaturen beneden het vriespunt moet u hem 30 minuten op kamertemperatuur laten opwarmen. Daarna moet u hem weer klaarmaken voor gebruik om ervoor te zorgen dat hij goed werkt en de juiste dosering afgeeft.
De inhalator klaarmaken voor gebruik
• Neem het beschermkapje van het mondstuk en schud de inhalator krachtig.
• Richt het mondstuk van u af en laat één puf (verstuiving) los door het aërosolbusje naar beneden te drukken. Dit moet 4 maal worden herhaald.
De inhalator dient altijd te worden geschud voor gebruik.
De inhalator gebruiken
Als u het gevoel heeft dat u buiten adem raakt of piepend ademhaalt (wheezing) terwijl u Xxxx gebruikt, moet u doorgaan met Xxxx maar daarnaast ook zo snel mogelijk contact opnemen met uw arts. Het kan zijn dat u een aanvullende behandeling nodig heeft. Zodra uw astma goed onder controle is zal uw arts bekijken of de dosis Xxxx geleidelijk kan worden verlaagd.

1. Neem het beschermkapje van het mondstuk en controleer of de inhalator schoon en stofvrij is. De inhalator moet vlak voor elke puf (verstuiving) worden geschud.
2. Zit of sta rechtop. Adem zo volledig, rustig en diep mogelijk uit.

3. Houd de inhalator rechtop (zoals in afbeelding 3) en doe het mondstuk in uw mond met uw lippen eromheen. Houd de inhalator vast met uw duim onder het mondstuk en vinger(s) op de bovenkant van de inhalator. Bijt niet op het mondstuk.
4. Adem rustig en diep in door uw mond en druk tegelijkertijd het aërosolbusje naar beneden om een puf (verstuiving) vrij te laten komen.

5. Houd uw adem in zolang dat nog aangenaam voor u is (bij voorkeur ongeveer 10 seconden). Haal tot slot de inhalator uit uw mond en adem rustig uit. Adem niet uit in de inhalator.
6. Herhaal stap 2 t/m 5 in rustig tempo.
7. Plaats na gebruik het beschermkapje weer over het mondstuk.
U kunt dit oefenen voor een spiegel. U heeft het geneesmiddel waarschijnlijk niet helemaal correct geïnhaleerd als na inhalatie de inhalator beslaat of als er damp komt uit uw mondhoeken. Neem dan een nieuwe dosis door de hierboven beschreven procedure vanaf stap 2 te herhalen.
Spoel na gebruik van de inhalator altijd uw mond met water of poets uw tanden. Spuug restanten uit. Daarmee voorkomt u zweertjes in uw mond en keel of problemen met uw stembanden.
Als u zwakke handen heeft kunt u de inhalator het best met twee handen vasthouden, waarbij u uw wijsvingers op het aërosolbusje plaatst en uw duimen aan de onderkant van de inhalator.
Als u het lastig vindt om de inhalator te gebruiken kan uw arts u ook een hulpstuk geven. Dat is een zogenoemde voorzetkamer, zoals de AeroChamber Plus®, waarmee u de inhalator gemakkelijker kunt hanteren. Uw arts of apotheker kan u vertellen hoe u de voorzetkamer bij de inhalator gebruikt. Er zitten ook instructies voor gebruik en onderhoud bij.
De inhalator onderhouden
Het is belangrijk dat u de inhalator wekelijks schoonmaakt. Zo maakt u de inhalator schoon:
• Verwijder het beschermkapje van het mondstuk.
• Haal het aërosolbusje niet uit de actuator (verstuiver).
• Veeg de binnen- en buitenkant van het mondstuk en de verstuiver af met een droog doekje of tissue.
• Plaats het beschermkapje weer over het mondstuk.
Heeft u te veel van dit middel gebruikt?
Raadpleeg uw arts of apotheker als u te veel van dit middel heeft gebruikt. U kunt last krijgen van hevige pijn op uw borst (angina), hoge of lage bloeddruk, hoofdpijn, spierkrampen, problemen met slapen, zenuwachtigheid, droge mond, geen eetlust, toevallen, stuiptrekkingen of insulten. Het kan zijn dat u zich trillerig, licht in het hoofd, flauw, moe, misselijk of ziekelijk voelt. U merkt misschien ook dat uw hartritme verandert. Het kaliumgehalte in uw bloed kan laag zijn of de hoeveelheid suiker in uw bloed neemt toe.
Heeft u langere tijd meer genomen dan de voorgeschreven dosis? Raadpleeg dan uw arts of apotheker. Hoge doseringen kunnen namelijk de hoeveelheid steroïde hormonen verminderen die door de bijnier worden geproduceerd (zie rubriek 4).
Bent u vergeten dit middel te gebruiken?
Als u een dosis bent vergeten, neem deze dan zo gauw u eraan denkt. Maar sla deze gemiste dosis over als het dan al bijna tijd is voor uw volgende dosis. Neem geen dubbele dosis om een vergeten dosis in te halen.
Als u stopt met het gebruik van dit middel
Het is heel belangrijk dat u deze inhalator iedere dag gebruikt zoals uw arts heeft voorgeschreven, ook als u zich goed voelt. Het helpt u uw aandoening onder controle te houden. Praat eerst met uw arts als u wilt stoppen met het gebruik van de inhalator. Uw arts weet hoe u dit moet doen; meestal is dat door het geleidelijk afbouwen van de dosis zodat het geen astma-aanval opwekt. Heeft u nog andere vragen over het gebruik van dit geneesmiddel? 4. MOGELIJKE BIJWERKINGEN
Zoals elk geneesmiddel kan deze inhalator bijwerkingen hebben, al krijgt niet iedereen daarmee te maken.
Elk geneesmiddel kan allergische reacties veroorzaken, al is er zelden melding gemaakt van ernstige allergische reacties. Neem onmiddellijk contact op met uw arts als u last krijgt van plotselinge zwelling van uw oogleden, gezicht of lippen, uitslag of jeuk (vooral als dat over uw hele lichaam verspreid is), lage bloeddruk of plotselinge veranderingen in uw ademhaling, zoals een toenemend gepiep of kortademigheid.
Zoals bij elke inhalator kan uw ademhaling slechter worden vlak nadat u de inhalator heeft gebruikt. Als dit gebeurt, moet u stoppen met Xxxx en uw snelwerkende inhalator voor verlichting gebruiken. Neem onmiddellijk contact op met uw arts. Uw arts zal u controleren en misschien met een ander soort behandeling beginnen. U moet uw inhalator voor snelle verlichting altijd bij u hebben.
Bijwerkingen die soms voorkomen (naar verwachting krijgt minder dan 1 op de 100 mensen die deze inhalator gebruiken er last van)
• Toename van de hoeveelheid suiker in uw bloed. Als u diabeet bent moet uw bloedsuikerspiegel misschien vaker worden nagekeken en de diabetesbehandeling die u nu krijgt worden aangepast.
• Verslechtering van de astma.
• Hoofdpijn.
• Trillen.
• Onregelmatige hartslag of hartkloppingen.
• Duizeligheid.
• Veranderingen van smaak en stemgeluid.
• Droge mond, zere of geïrriteerde keel.
• Gezwollen handen, enkels of voeten.
Bijwerkingen die zelden voorkomen (naar verwachting krijgt minder dan 1 op de 1000 mensen die deze inhalator gebruiken er last van)
• Spruw, een schimmelinfectie in de mond en keel.
• Bijholteontsteking (sinusitis).
• Snelle hartslag.
• Pijn op de borst, wat doet denken aan hartfalen.
• Spierspasmen.
• Hoesten of kortademigheid.
• Diarree.
• Moeilijkheden met de spijsvertering.
• Duizelig gevoel of ‘draaiduizeligheid’.
• Abnormale dromen of problemen met slapen.
• Onrust.
• Uitslag.
• Hoge bloeddruk.
• Ongewoon zwak voelen.
De volgende bijwerkingen worden in verband gebracht met formoterolfumaraat maar zijn niet gemeld tijdens klinische onderzoeken met deze inhalator:
• Weinig kalium in het bloed, wat spierzwakte, spierspasmen of een afwijkend hartritme kan veroorzaken.
• Afwijkende hartslag (verlengde QTc-interval).
• Veel melkzuur in het bloed.
Inhalatiesteroïden kunnen de normale productie van steroïde hormonen in uw lichaam beïnvloeden, vooral als u langere tijd hoge doseringen gebruikt. De gevolgen hiervan kunnen zijn:
• veranderingen in de mineraaldichtheid van uw botten (uw botten worden dunner);
• cataract (vertroebeling van de ooglens);
• glaucoom (verhoogde druk in de oogbol);
• blauwe plekken of dunnere huid;
• meer kans een infectie op te lopen;
• vertraging van de groei bij kinderen en adolescenten;
• een groot rond gezicht (maangezicht);
• veranderde werking van de bijnier (een kleine klier naast de nier).
Deze gevolgen zijn veel minder waarschijnlijk met inhalatiesteroïden dan met steroïdepillen.
Krijgt u veel last van een van de bijwerkingen die in rubriek 4 staan? Of krijgt u een bijwerking die niet in deze bijsluiter staat? Neem dan contact op met uw arts of apotheker.
5. HOE BEWAART U DIT MIDDEL?
Buiten het bereik en zicht van kinderen houden.
Gebruik dit middel niet meer na de uiterste houdbaarheidsdatum. Die is te vinden op het etiket, het aluminiumzakje en het doosje. Daar staat een maand en een jaar. De laatste dag van die maand is de uiterste houdbaarheidsdatum. EXP: 08-2020 betekent dat u de inhalator niet meer mag gebruiken na de laatste dag van die maand, augustus 2020.
Bewaren beneden 25°C. Niet in de koelkast of de vriezer bewaren. Als de inhalator is blootgesteld aan temperaturen beneden het vriespunt moet u hem 30 minuten op kamertemperatuur laten opwarmen, en daarna opnieuw klaarmaken voor gebruik (zie rubriek 3 ‘Hoe gebruikt u dit middel?’). Gebruik de inhalator niet als hij meer dan 3 maanden geleden voor het eerst uit het aluminiumzakje is gehaald of als de dosisindicator ‘0’ aangeeft.
Niet blootstellen aan temperaturen boven 50°C. De aërosol spuitbus bevat een vloeistof onder druk, u mag hem dus niet lek prikken, breken of verbranden. Ook niet als het busje leeg lijkt. Spoel geneesmiddelen niet door de gootsteen of de WC en gooi ze niet in de vuilnisbak. Vraag uw apotheker wat u met geneesmiddelen moet doen die niet meer nodig zijn. Ze worden dan op een verantwoorde manier vernietigd en komen niet in het milieu.
6. AANVULLENDE INFORMATIE
Welke stoffen zitten er in dit middel?
De werkzame stoffen in dit middel zijn fluticasonpropionaat en formoterolfumaraatdihydraat. Er zijn drie verschillende sterkten van de inhalator verkrijgbaar. Elke puf (verstuiving) bevat 50 microgram fluticasonpropionaat en 5 microgram formoterolfumaraatdihydraat, of 125 microgram fluticasonpropionaat en 5 microgram formoterolfumaraatdihydraat, of 250 microgram fluticasonpropionaat en 10 microgram formoterolfumaraatdihydraat.
De andere stoffen in dit middel zijn:
• Natriumcromoglicaat
• Ethanol
• Apafluran HFA 227 (drijfgas)
Hoe ziet Xxxx eruit en hoeveel zit er in een verpakking?
Deze inhalatoren zijn kleine aërosolbusjes met daarin een witte tot gebroken witte vloeibare oplossing. Ze zijn voorzien van een doseringsventiel. De spuitbusjes zitten in een grijs met witte houder (actuator/verstuiver) met een lichtgrijs beschermingskapje voor het mondstuk. Elke inhalator bevat 120 pufs (verstuivingen). Er zit één inhalator in een verpakking.

Full of autumn flavours and probably the best of the bunch in terms of nutritional whatnots. If you’ve never tried a grated beetroot salad, this is a good place to start. As well as all the antioxidant action, this one carries bonus fibre points. A perfect packed lunch salad as it stays crunchy for 2–3 days and flavours keep improving.
SERVES 4 ON THE SIDE
1/2 medium carrot
1 small raw beetroot
1/4 of a small celeriac
1/8 of a red cabbage
1/2 a stick of celery
1 small dill pickle
2 tablespoons sultanas
4 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 Cox’s apple
extra virgin olive oil
salt and pepper
Peel and grate the carrot, beetroot and celeriac.
Slice the cabbage and celery nice and thin.
Chop the gherkin roughly.
Put the sultanas into a small saucepan with half the vinegar and simmer for just a few minutes until the liquid has all gone.
Quarter and core the apple and slice.
Mix all the ingredients together, and dress with the remaining vinegar and some seasoning. Finish with the extra virgin at the end.

Hét bewijs dat bietjes ook lekker kunnen zijn. Vol herfstsmaken en topscoorder als het op voedingswaarde aankomt. Niet alleen een bonuspuntje voor de antioxidanten, maar ook voor de vezels. Je kunt hem ook prima voorverpakken, want hij blijft nog wel 2 tot 3 dagen knapperig en de smaak gaat er alleen maar op vooruit.
BIJGERECHT VOOR 4
1/2 middelgrote wortel
1 kleine rode biet, rauw
1/4 knolselderie (kleintje)
1/8 rode kool
1/2 stengel bleekselderij
1 augurk
2 eetlepels sultanarozijnen
4 eetlepels rode wijnazijn
1 Cox appel
extra vergine olijfolie
zout en peper
Schaaf en rasp de wortel, rode biet en knolselderie.
Snij de kool en bleekselderij in dunne plakjes.
Hak de augurk grof.
Kook de rozijnen een paar minuten zachtjes in een kleine steelpan met de helft van de azijn tot alle vloeistof is verdwenen.
Snij de appel in vieren, verwijder het klokhuis en snij in plakjes.
Mix alle ingrediënten door elkaar en maak dit aan met zout, peper en de resterende azijn.
Eindig met de olijfolie.
