Source text - English I’d like to tell you a story. It’s a rather curious story first and foremost because it doesn’t have a beginning. If that sounds odd or peculiar it’s not really, because when I look back into the orbit of my memory, in my mind, my story is like one continuous circular flow of event, just going around and around and around without ever stopping. So if I were to start, it wouldn’t be at a beginning, but merely where I choose to interrupt. So, where I choose to interrupt now, as good a place as any..... is that Friday afternoon in Putney all those years ago.
Translation - Catalan M’agradaria explicar-vos una història. És una història bastant curiosa sobretot perquè no té començament. Si això us sona estrany o peculiar en realitat no ho és, perquè quan repasso mentalment l’òrbita de la memòria, la meva història és com un corrent circular continu d’esdeveniments que fa voltes i voltes i voltes sense aturar-se mai. Si hagués de començar, doncs, no seria pel començament sinó simplement per on jo triés interrompre’l. I ara mateix trio interrompre’l per un punt tan vàlid com qualsevol altre, que és... aquella tarda de divendres de fa tants anys al meu pis de Putney.
