I translate, interpret, and proofread in the following language combinations: from German, English, and Portuguese into Latin American Spanish. I have over 20 years of experience as a professional translator and conference interpreter. I have taught translation and interpretation and German as a Second Language at my country's most renowned universities. I also hold four master’s degrees in different areas of specialization: marketing, business, finances, and politics. Since I have worked from a very young age in the real estate business of my family, I have been also able to take advantage of all the knowledge about law, contracts, and negotiations. Some of my direct clients are international law firms that usually require support translating acts of incorporation, power of attorneys, understanding memoranda, demands for arbitration, and leases. Currently, I am working to take the official test to become a sworn translator for German and Spanish in Venezuela and the preparation for the test includes one-to-one mentoring with the most experienced colleagues, from whom I always obtain excellent feedback about my legal translations. The combination of my working languages along with my professional and academic experience allows me to offer my clients reliable and specialized translations with outstanding quality. The strong command and foundations in these fields enable me to accurately deliver the technical and specialized essence of the source text into the target language with the same original tone and intentions, thus impacting directly and positively on the value and return on investment. As a translator and conference interpreter I do not only address the linguistic aspects of our job but also go beyond with commitment, willingness to help, and discretion.
I am a passionate linguist and learner. I was born and raised in Venezuela by Colombian parents and started discovering my passion for languages at 15 when I started learning German. Spanish is my mother tongue and I speak and write with a neutral educated accent and tone, allowing my translations to easily target US Hispanic, Latin American, and Caribbean markets.
During my professional career, I have worked with various German and Austrian institutions, e.g. the Goethe Institut, the German Chamber of Commerce, and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. As a German teacher, translator, or simultaneous conference interpreter, I have always been rewarded with a positive response from my clients. These opportunities have also allowed me to experience firsthand the working methods and culture of German organizations and to embrace the pride and commitment to perform every single task in a right, reliable, ethical, organized, and timely manner.
Establishing a partnership with me would be very competitive. I am willing to negotiate prices based on volume and frequency. Since I am outside the European Union I can issue invoices legally without the value-added tax. This partnership could also benefit from the time difference of 6 hours between Venezuela and Central Europe, especially with translation assignments over the weekend or at the end of the working day in Europe. I am also willing and ready to work on last-minute assignments over the weekend. I rely on a robust infrastructure to smoothly serve my clients in Europe and the United States. I have excellent uninterrupted Internet connectivity. Over the years I have developed the ability to work under pressure and with multicultural teams. I am very aware of the importance of good and assertive communication when receiving instructions and feedback. Besides, I always have a very enthusiastic, positive, and optimistic attitude toward every project I am involved with.
I would always welcome the chance to have a virtual coffee with you, take a translation test, and discuss how I could contribute to your translation projects, conferences, and your success.
