After working for many years as a teacher of German and English both in the UK and abroad, I have now been working as a German-to-English (UK/US) freelance translator for 6 years and in 2014 passed the MITI examination in medicine and pharmaceuticals.

Most of my freelance translation work has involved medical, commercial and academic texts. Translations have included published medical articles in recognised medical journals and medically oriented articles in magazines such as Stern, clinical trial documentation, regulatory documentation (BfArM / IQWIG / BAG / Swissmedic / Science Industries / ethics committees), SmPCs and PILs, SOPs for pharmaceutical companies, marketing literature and presentations (medical, academic, commercial) as well as German University websites and course descriptions and websites for various German companies and organisations in a variety of sectors. I also regularly proofread for established agencies in medicine and commerce in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and the USA.

I work with both Word and Trados Studio 2017, and also have experience using MemoQ and Memsource online. My standard translation rate per source word is 0.08 GBP/0.10 EUR/0.15 USD. My standard hourly rate for proofreading/editing is £30/35 EUR/45 USD. Payment should be made within 30 days of receipt of invoice.
