Let us point out here that Landowski analysed dandyism at length from a socio-semiotic point of
view, inter-defining the dandy in relation to the snob, the 'chameleon' and the 'bear', starting with
the dynamics of identity (centrifugal or centripetal) around a social figure that plays the role of
pole-of-attraction as well as that of pole-of-repulsion. These dynamics can be defined according to
the category 'disjunction vs. conjunction' projected on to the semiotic square:

Bear по принцип означава груб, недодялан човек, но мисля, че тук използването на това описателно значение не е оправдано, т.е. трябва да си остане "мечка", "мечок", както си остава "хамелеон". Явно се чудите за мечката, но не и за хамелеона, защото в българския език думата хамелеон също се използва за човек, докато мечката няма такова значение, както на английски.

'snob', 'chameleon', 'dandy', 'bear' са четирите стила, които са противопоставени във семиотичен квадрат. Снобът, хамелеонът и дендито са ясни, но не мога да намеря някакво унифицирано бг значение на bear, а не ми се иска да импровизирам.

Ландовски съпоставя контето и сноба, "хамелеона" и "мечката".
Доколкото аз разбирам, контето е хамелеон и като такъв привлича, а снобът е мечка и отблъсква. Освен това, думата "сноб" има отрицателна окраска.
