Por el contexto es lo que parece. Ya que un verbo muy parecido a "clip" es "to fasten" y aparece en varios sitios sobre naautica vinculado a el término "halyard" o "jarcia". Además teniendo en cuenta que "sheet" se refiere a la "escota", que es también un cabo que sirve para cazar velas, parece lo más aproximado.
