Having been born and brought up in Somalia, my mother tongue is Somali. I have lived in England for 26 years. Since 2004 I have worked over 12,000 hours as a freelance telephone interpreter for a number of major companies, including Language Line Services, thebigword, Cyracom and Language Service Associates. I have also undertaken a significant number of assignments as a face-to-face interpreter, and carried out Somali to English transcription work.

I have a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting for Leeds Metropolitan University.
