Vladimir Pochinov . I purchased AlignFactory Light in March 2015, as I needed to align lots of legacy material for one of my major clients.
In the past, I tried SDL Trados WinAlign but the aligning process proved to be a real hassle. New "Align Documents" module in SDL Trados Studio 2014 is much better, but I opted for LF Aligner (an open-source alignment tool developed by András Farkas, a Hungarian freelance translator and conference interpreter, and available at http://aligner.sourceforge.net/) which I have been using rather heavily until this March.
In my opinion, the AlignFactory document alignment engine is the best in the industry as of April 2015. This engine is used in several products and services offered by Terminotix, Inc. (http://www.terminotix.com):
AlignFactory Light (425.00 CAD)
AlignFactory (1,500 CAD) — a fully-automated (see the comparison table at http://www.terminotix.com/docs/tableau_comparatif_en.pdf)
YouAlign (free)(http://youalign.com) — an online document alignment service that lets you quickly and easily create bitexts from your archived documents. YouAlign generates TMX files that can be loaded into your translation memory. YouAlign can also generate HTML files that you can publish on the Internet, or use with a full-text search engine to search for terminology and phraseology in context. YouAlign supports all kinds of formats, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, PDF, HTML, XML, Corel WordPerfect, RTF, Lotus WordPro and plain text.
I suggest that you try YouAlign and see how it proves its worth.

How easy is it to learn?
Alignment good and fast... but only for basic documents
Review by
Nicolas Bianchi . I got AlignFactory light within my Terminotix’s LogiTerm Pro software (795 CAD or 95 CAD for students).
It’s the most accurate and easiest tool for basic word files or Excel / PowerPoint files, where it’s easy to match source and target text.
Sadly, as soon as the source text contains legal references or dates, the alignment gets totally messed up and the result is unusable without tedious corrections.
It’s possible to adjust segmentation by completing the abbreviations list, still the full stops after dates and the many "made-up" abbreviations in the German language always lead to segmentation breaks.
I’m still happy I go this tool, and I use it on a regular basis.
And I would recommend it.
My recommendation to all students: buy it for 95 CAD while you can. It’s a good investment.
