Venue Oct 30, 2007

Hello my dear colleagues! I am very sorry to have waited so long with a venue, but I had to find something interesting over the Internet. I think I found a nice place; Vilvoorde.

I hope this is not too far out for all of you?
You might have heard of William Tyndale, our dear colleague and bible translator, who got burnt at the stake for his bible translation? There is a museum and park dedicated to him in Vilvoorde.

You might have heard of William Tyndale, our dear colleague and bible translator, who got burnt at the stake for his bible translation? There is a museum and park dedicated to him in Vilvoorde.
So I would suggest we visit the museum (maybe have a guided walk through Vilvoorde) and to have a drink and something to eat afterwards in the Drie Fonteinen.

We could all meet at the entrance of the museum at 2.00 pm.

For the brave ones among you who do show up, I will have a small Aussie souvenir.)

LOoking forward to seeing you all! Pass it on, pass it on!!

Vilvoorde Nov 8, 2007

I wrote about Vilvoorde and never went there; and indeed we should honour William Tyndale - maybe the greatest translator who every lived.

Welcome all you brave hearts! Nov 8, 2007

Welcome all and thanks for registering your interest. Sorry for being slack in posting messages here. Been busy organising the 'big trip' to Europe.

Mustafa, I'm not sure if you need to have an invitation. Maybe you can check out the site of the EU in regards to the Schengen visa and how to apply for that.

Andre, how fantastic that you wrote about Vilvoorde!!!! So you could be our guide that day? I have b

Andre, how fantastic that you wrote about Vilvoorde!!!! So you could be our guide that day? I have been asking around in Vilvoorde (via email) but there doesn't seem to be a guided tour. I would love to hear more about this wonderful place (seems so interesting from the website).

I am looking forward to meeting you all! I will bring my little helper, I hope nobody objects? (7 months old)

Cheers and see you soon!

See Vilvoorde and ... Nov 8, 2007

I have materials on Vilvoorde from my book "Cities of the Imagination: Brussels"
It has probably changed a bit since Tyndale had the misfortune to be strangled there. So I will try and be ready...

I am going to be at Hotel ROYAL Windsor for the three nights from28th to the 1st of December at the confrence of TACIS program. I am accompanying a disabled woman, Head of Disabled Women's Organization, and her daughter. After the confrence we need to move to another place and I am trying to find some affordable hotel in the center of Brussels. So, where is Vilvoorde? I am looking at http://www.hotels.be/results.cfm?city=BRUSSELS&arrivaldate=01-12-2007&departuredate=04-12-2007&stars=&numpers=3 and am inclined to opt for hotel Manhatten. Is it a good place and how far is it to Vilvoorde? Thanks.Collapse

Dear Aizada,
Unfortunately I cannot help you with the hotel, but I will forward your question to my niece who lives near Brussels. She might know the hotel. I would be honoured to meet you!

Warm regards,

Claudia

Time Nov 13, 2007

Dear Kasia,
I was thinking of meeting in front of the museum at 2 pm. The museum is on Lange Molenstraat 48 in Vilvoorde. From there we might be able to walk (? if it's not too far) to the 3 Fonteinen for a nice glass of Grimbergen or Barossa Red)

Groetjes!
Claudia

I am sorry for not being an active participant. The plan sounds great. As I moved to Brussels just a month ago, I know hardly anything. I think it is a good choice to see the surroundings of Brussels and have a meeting with proz.com fellows. I am sure we will have a great time.

Dear Claudia,

Could you, please, explain how to get to Lange Molenstraat 48 in Vilvoorde if I arrive by train from Antwerp or Brussels (I do not know now where I will be on the morning of December 2. )

Also, it would be good to have some contact telephone number ([email protected]).

Thank you.

getting there Nov 25, 2007

it's about 1 km from the train station. trains from Antwerp go through Vilvoorde, but they don't usually stop there. look on www.b-rail.be to plan your journey.
