Good with a wide variety of texts, including medical and dental documents, advertising copy, general articles and so forth. I am at home in Word, WordPerfect, Excel and Quattro Pro. Plus I use three translation memory tools - namely SDL Trados Studio 2017, memoQ 2015 and Across Freelance Edition 6.3.
I have a good sense of style and, as any translator should be able to do, can make a text look like it's been written by a native speaker of the target language (in my case, English). I also have a good understanding of the Internet, and have designed four Web sites (though these are not related to translation).
At present, my rates are US$10.00 or € 9.00 per 100 words, or US$15.00 or EUR10.00 per hour for jobs such as proofreading (however, I don't generally do proofreading).
I strive to deliver a translation which both reads naturally and captures the essential meaning of the source text. In addition, I can always, barring exceptional circumstances, meet deadlines.
I work with clients all around the world, in Europe, Asia and right here in little old New Zealand.
I have a BA with First Class Honours in French from Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand. I have also studied German and Spanish at university level, and have translation experience in all three languages. German is my "bread-and-butter" language, being the one in which I get the most work and have the most experience. |
