The (traditional) Pastrmajlija Powwow which was organized for the third time in our country took place in a ship-restaurant, in a beautiful surrounding, but unfortunately, because of the weather conditions, not all the people who were planning to come managed to be there because of the weather conditions (it was snowing heavily the previous days and was extremely cold).
Nevertheless, it was a constructive meeting which consisted of two parts - a formal and an informal one.
The formal part was held in a conference room where our guests - experts in finances, were answering on questions concerning taxes, opening a company (since in our country, if you do not have a company, you can not have any benefits concerning social and pension insurance - there is no possibility how to pay them, if you work as a freelancer).
Next, we were informed that (finally) the Association of Interpreters in Macedonia has been registered and that the Association of translators in Macedonia is in a procedure of being registered. We also discussed the conditions how to become a member in one of those.
The second part, which was less official, took part in the restaurant itself, where we continued with our conversation, discussing prizes, jobs, and everything that interests us - translators/interpreters/subtitlers.
We verified some of our guests, and there was also a guest, who is not a member of Proz, who hasn't heard of it (but she found out about our meeting on Facebook) and now she is thinking of becoming a member She had lots of questions about the advantages of being a (paid) member so we discussed a little bit of, too.
We had a really nice time, we talked, we explained some issues that were bothering us, we had lunch (the pastrmajlija was delicious) and the meeting finished with a traditional dance :)
