Report from  Yolanda Morato
For our powwow, we went to a coffee place and sat there to talk about a myriad of topics... for three hours!!! Personally, I had a great time talking to very interesting people from Norway, Spain and the States. With so different backgrounds and experiences about translation and life in general, we had a lot to talk about and share.
Nobody had been to a powwow before --apart from me ;) see London (April 2002), but soon we became to discuss relevant issues such as
* ProZ and job bids (of course!)
* getting established as a freelancer vs. freelancing while having a full-time job
* rates and competition for jobs today
* fields of specialization
* most and less demanded language pairs
* CAT tools
* and even how to get into a pub without a driver's license...

Jokes apart, I'd like to thank Marion, Fernando and George for a great evening of suggestions and conversation. And I obviously encourage members of ProZ to organize/attend a meeting like this!

Best regards,

Yolanda
