The Kraftwerk-Kennzeichensystem (Kraftwerkkennzeichnungssystem; KKS) is the German power station designation system. Technical Manuals for power stations normally contain a lot of KKS codes, many of them standing isolated in table cells.

With the new CafeTran feature Transfer non-translatable segments to target you can populate all segments that only contain non-translatables, like these KKS codes. All you have to do is to add some regular expressions to your list of non-translatables, that cover the KKS codes. Here are some examples:

|([A-Z])+(\d)+
|([A-Z])+(\d)+([A-Z])+(\d)+
|[A-Z]\d([A-Z])+(\d)+
|[A-Z]\d([A-Z])+(\d)+([A-Z])+(\d)+

CafeTran will jump over segments that were populated with Transfer non-translatable segments to target.

Segments that only contain ONE uppercase letter Nov 8, 2014

If you would like to add a rule to automatically translate segments that only contain one uppercase letter, you should add this line to your list of non-translatables:

|\b[A-Z]\b

Commenting out comments in regexes? Nov 8, 2014

It would be cool if we could use a special character to comment out comments in the non-translatables list in CT.

Thus:

|\b[A-Z]\b ; rule to automatically translate segments that only contain one upper-case letter

I don't think that's possible (yet). However, if you use RegExr to compile and check your regexes, you can save them with a comment in the app:

It's not the same, but it may help anyway.

Cheers,

Hans

Yes that would be an improvement indeed Nov 9, 2014

Such a comment feature would be nice indeed.

Should be possible Nov 9, 2014

You can try #
Depending on the regex flavour, the regex can be followed by a "normal" comment after #, but it shouldn't be longer than the line of the regex. Or a comment "without free space": (?#note), where "note" can be anything (well, not a closing parenthesis before the closing parenthesis, if you see what I mean).

Not tested.

Cheers,

Hans
