The Excel spreadsheet is landscape format, the Word document is upright format. Is there a trick how to turn the excel spreadsheet by 90°?

By clicking on the Excel icon and importing it

You may do so by clicking on the Excel icon (the spreadsheet with the green X) or you can choose the option of importing the spreadsheet into your Word document.
Try it.

Turning the text might work

Is there a trick how to turn the excel spreadsheet by 90°?
Just an idea - have you thought about changing the direction of the text in the Excel file? I mean, first you change the direction of the table (turn lines into columns - there are certain commands to do that, or you might simply use Copy and Paste if the table is not too big), and then you can change the direction of the text in the cells from horizontal to vertical. What do you think about it?
Another solution is saving the table as a picture and then turning the picture by 90° in some editor and pasting it into Word, but then the table is not editable.

Start a new section in the Word document where you want to place the Excel document. If it is in the middle of a document, you may want to start a third section as well, as we are going to change a property of the section that the Excel spreadsheet goes into.
Insert your spreadsheet into the new section. On the File menu, click Page Setup. Make sure the box toward the bottom left reads "This section". Select Landscape. Click OK.
