Yes, but only a bit Nov 10, 2017

I have had some work through LinkedIn, but not much. However, I don't use it as well as I could to find work.

I thought I'd cancelled my membership a few years ago, but I keep getting email updates wanting me to post even more info. It also seems to assume I'm desperately seeking more work contacts, and want to ""expand my network", when this is not the case.

Yes, sort of Nov 10, 2017

Because of the slick format of the site - much more professional looking than here - I use LinkedIn for posting my online profile. i.e. diluted version of my CB (not CV) or Capabilities Brochure.
Whenever I get inquiries about work with that ubiquitous 'send CV' message, I just send the other party a link to my LinkedIn profile which gives them an idea of what I am capable of doing and how I can help their company.

I have not met clients with LinkedIn. I see it more as a business card and I must admit that my profile there is very incomplete. Though I am not an active user what has been quite useful for me is taking part in two groups (Translation Agencies – Good, Bad, and Cheap + Unacceptable Translation Rates Naming and Shaming Group).

Probably better than your own website.

Do have it but have never used it.

There's nothing to add to your comment.

My LinkedIn profile is there... I think it's pretty well... We do not interact very much.
Really, I have no time to post things and follow it... and to be honest, all this "social life" which takes more time than real life is annoying...

Yes-Awarded 2 Literary Translation Projects Nov 10, 2017

I was awarded two literary translation (French romance novels) contracts, which I ended up accepting, by someone who contacted me through LinkedIn.

Well worth the free participation.

Nope Nov 10, 2017

They usually offer me jobs which require German, e.g. customer services, or a full-time translation job, all with a downgrade in conditions and pay.
