Interesting poll for January....
Dec 7, 2005
It would be great to have a poll in early January asking "What were your gross earnings for 2005?"
The problem would be what to count as earnings.
Include only translating, and those who work part-time in translation and part-time in other work are going to make the average earnings look lower than they really are. So you can either restrict it to people who work full-time, or let people give the total of all their earnings, regardless of what other work they do.

I don't know if it was just a coincidence or what, but I was a member since the end of 2003 and that year I didn't get any job. In 2004 I got 2 interpretations and one large translation of a website. But this year, I got plenty of translations, not only from PROZ but also from other translation websites, my ad on the yellow pages and from friends who kindly shared their traslations with me. I can't complain!
