German to English Other Food & Drink Backwaren
Es handelt sich wohl um eine Art Ciabatta oder Baguette aber in sich gedreht; so viel konnte ich schon ergoogeln. Gibt es hierfür eine englische Entsprechung? Falls nicht, wie kann man es auf englisch beschreiben?

I think "braided" is the common term for explaining "in sich gedreht". This shape characteristic is of course not limited to Wurzelbrot only!?

neutral Nadine Kahn : Don't think the definition is common in English. Perhaps there is no perfect translation though / Could be any bread that's twisted somehow./ It is not "twisted French bread", that's for sure

The site below has quite a good illustration of one of these about two-thirds of the way down; it may be close enough to what you are looking for, but I don't THINK there's going to be anything a lot closer...

Pain Paillasse (twisted wheat sourdough bread)

It is licensed (!) throughout Europe under the name "Pain Paillasse", originated in Switzerland.
Also, often as imitations, called 'Wurzelbrot'. It is a twisted wheat sourdough bread.

You might want to call it Pain Paillasse (twisted what sourdough bread).

carrot bread

In Northern Germany, carrots are called Wurzeln as opposed to Karotten or Möhren.

Therefore, Wurzelbrot could be carrot bread.

braided wheat bread

Wurzelbrot is classified as wheat bread (Wiezenbrot) according to links in google. A common term for the structure/shape of breads of thşs kind is braided.
