Hüttenstein

German to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Types of building block
This is in a list of types of brick or block, which also includes Porenbeton, Vollziegel, Hohlblockstein etc.

Thanks, all of you, for your input. However, I discovered that the DIN standard 398 translates "Hüttenstein" as "Granulated slag aggregate concrete block" so decided to go with that. It's certainly more cumbersome than your suggestions, but I don't feel I can give points to "brick" suggestions if it's defined as a concrete block.

lightweight unfired clay bricks (2DF).

especially the 2df makes me feel pretty confident ...
