(general) contractor/sub-contractor Erklärung: Any company can be a contractor (receiving a job from a government agency or other company, or giving a job to another company). If such contractor outsources to another company, that company would be called "sub-contractor." The sub-contractor is a more precise expression when it comes to the relationship between the company that offers the job (Auftraggeber) and the company that then performs the job/task ([Lohn]Auftragnehmer = sub-contractor). The term is better than "outsourcer" because outsourcer could possibly be the company who offers jobs to a subcontractor (...are you an outsourcer company- meaning - are you outsourcing to other companies?!)'
