Deutsch Begriff oder Satz: eindeutig auf Rollen fixiert
Kochen wird in dem Maße für Männer überhaupt erst attraktiv wenn Alltagskochen nicht mehr eindeutig auf Rollen fixiert ist.

Does this mean something along the lines of not being spelled out or not being restricted to only one way of doing something? I can find it this phrase in other texts but don't want to make any assumptions since this likely won't translate directly.

(strictly) a woman's thing
Erklärung:
This is talking about gender roles and stereotypes. The woman's place is in the kitchen, so they say ;-)

Something along the lines of:

Everyday cooking will only really appeal to men when it's no longer seen/portrayed as strictly a woman's thing.

Cooking isnt so much of a woman's thing anymore.A lot of men cook good these days

Food preparation in the home kitchen has usually been considered a woman’s job or a woman’s [pseudo]”duty”. It’s the dutiful and domesticated housewife who has snacks baked and prepared and then prepares dinner when the hard working husband comes home from work. Then there’s baking. In truthfulness, there’s that stereotype/gender role that baking is a woman’s thing. You know what I’m talking about: women baking is the norm but when men bake, it’s not the norm

(no longer seen as) a role-based function

Erklärung:
It may be more appropriate to retain the notion of "roles" in the translation; i.e. the contrast between homemaker and breadwinner, rather than ascribe these to specific genders.

In other words, it's not so much a matter of reconsidering what the roles of a man and woman in a relationship are, but rather of questioning the very notion of different roles in the first place; so, men will take on cooking duties once they realize that it isn't the man or the woman's job in particular to cook, it's just something that needs to be done, by either the man or the woman, or both (shared).

Or "role-specific" function (or task).

or "tied to /associated with gender roles"

"In a way, cooking only becomes interesting to men if it's no longer tied to distinct role perceptions."

locked into gender roles

Erklärung:
What I would expect to read. I am not at all sure it is necessary to hide "gender", if it is, I would suggest "traditional" or "customary roles".
