Troviamo la prima traccia scritta del cognome Zarantonello in un documento del 9 febbraio 1588: " Antonius q. Petri de Zanantonielis a nemore decanus de Villa Plana " - Antonio del fu Pietro della selva degli Zanantonielli decano del villaggio Piana. In questo caso la proposizione "de" inserita in una frase scritta in latino, dove c'e' gia' il genitivo che indica il patronimico (Zanantonielis = degli Zanantonielli), segna il passaggio che portera' alla formazione del cognome De Za..."
