Localizing games certainly means more than barely translating the original text word by word - understanding and transporting the atmosphere aimed for is just as essential as properly capturing the invidividual personalities of the various characters featured throughout the game.
I have been working as a freelance translator specializing in the localization of PC and console games since 1994.
Some of my recent projects (ingame, voice over scripts, manuals, box texts and/or promotional material) include RTS games, action adventures, fantasy games, business simulations, comic adventures, space + fun shooters, racing games, 3-D fighting games, pinball games, brain trainers as well as edutainment titles.
Additionally, I translated various strategy guides (books) published by well-known German publishing houses and fully localized a comprehensive commercial software application in the past.
Further to the localization business I am also working as a proofreader/editor for German computer book publishers on a regular basis.
