In a nutshell I provide the Best Medicine for your Texts.
As a highly experienced English to German sworn translator I specialize in
- medical/medtech translations
- medical transcreation and
- medical copywriting
Experience
You will
receive texts and translations that sell your products better – because of my in-depth knowledge of the LifeSciences industry:
For over 19 years I've worked with (and partly managed) the German in-house language service of Baxter Healthcare Inc., a major American healthcare company (1992-2011).
At Baxter I processed the most diverse translation requests and acted as project manager of multilingual translation projects involving LSPs and freelancers on the one hand, and company functions like Marketing, Medical, Regulatory Affairs on the other.
At this LifeSciences company I not only learned the ropes of complex clinical research projects, regulatory approval processes and product launches but also introduced translation memory systems and an online terminology tool at a time when this technology was still in the early stages of development.
Consequently, Baxter's Corporate Communications termed our in-house translation service a "Center of Excellence".
Beomed Translation Team - Network of Freelance Translators2011: Co-founder of Beomed Translation Team – A Network of Freelance Translators.

CAT Tools / Translation Environment Tools
I've been a memoQ user since 2011. As I enjoy the versatility and ease of use of this tool, I offer introductory trainings for translators who are interested in using memoQ for collaborative projects ("memoQ for teams" webinar).
As an efficiency geek I continuously expand my knowledge of memoQ
functions by attending the memoQfest user conference and various
trainings.
Before I switched to memoQ, I had been an expert Trados user (with over 20 years of experience) and had used Multiterm to create a company term base with over 23.000 entries for an international healthcare organisation).
Technical Writing
My additional training as a technical writer shows in the way I process and translate instructional texts and how I perform revisions, i. e. always with the text purpose and reader in mind. I consider myself the "reader's advocate".
As a result, I developed a 3-hour intensive training for non-linguists who need to write instructional texts like SOPs etc.
Medical Copywriting
How to communicate the benefits of a medical product to various target groups?
Patients require a different tone of voice than healthcare providers. As a certified copywriter (
TexterClub certified) I help my clients to create convincing texts that sell their products and services.
Transcreation
The positive feedback on my articles for various publications (by patient associations, the Red Cross, BDÜ) encouraged me to add the service of Transcreation to my portfolio. This combined translation and adaptation of image-relevant texts for diverse media contributes to the success of my customers.
BeomedBlogHere is my blog on translation topics (in German): BeomedBlog.
Memberships/Professional Associations
As a professional linguist and technical writer, I'm a member of
- BDÜ
(German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators) and - Tekom
(Europe's largest professional association for technical communication)
My professional objectives: Happy readers that buy the services and products of my even happier customers.
To achieve this, I continuously expand my own linguistic and medical/technical expertise and contribute to the continuous development of the profession.
