I own a university degree (Masters) in translation studies and received my German "Diplom" as a graduate translator
at the University of Mainz, FASK in Germersheim (the largest and most renowned university for translators and interpreters
worldwide) for the language combinations English-German, German-English, and Spanish-German in 2003.

My Master's Thesis was entitled:
The Portrayal of Personality Disorders and the Role of Psychiatry in Joanne Greenberg's I Never Promised You a Rose Garden and Susanna Kaysen's Girl, Interrupted.

I am also a member of the largest translation body in Germany, the BDÜ (Bundesverband der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer e.V.) and a member of CHICATA (Chicago Area Translators and Interpreters Association).

As a freelance translator I have specialized in various fields such as media in general, multimedia, software and
website localization, IT, SAP, marketing & advertising, tourism & travel, geography, entertainment, film/cinema & TV
(scripts, transcriptions, subtitles), psychology. I also offer transcription, DTP, proofreading, and editing services. Software:
Windows 7, MS Office 2010, SDL Trados 2007 & Studio 2011


Former jobs and experiences:

07/1998-04/1999:
I spent 5 months in Detroit, MI, and 3 months in Saltillo, Mexico, at Mannesmann Sachs Automotive where I worked
with the SAP R/3 system as a SAP-consultant and translator (German, English and Spanish), customizing and translating
the SAP user interface as well as all types of data in all SAP modules; Further activities: SAP employee training in Mexico
during relocation of company from Detroit to Saltillo.


2000-2003:
During my studies at university I worked as a Tour Director for EF Educational Tours during Easter and
summer vacations. As a tour manager I accompanied and guided American high school students and teachers during
1-3 week bus tours through Europe.


11/2003-05/2005:
Right after university I was employed as an Assistant of the Management and Translator (German-English-Spanish)
at “HMS International Hotel GmbH” (hotel management and franchise company) which was responsible for the acquisition
of international hotels on behalf of the Maritim Hotel Group in Cologne, Germany. Besides being responsible for the entire
organization, accounting etc. of the company, I daily translated press releases, hotel brochures, correspondence,
management and franchise contracts as well as marketing plans. I also had to communicate with all hotels abroad
in English, Spanish and German.
