I studied English and Romance philology in Germany and afterwards attended a language school, where I obtained translator's and business correspondent's degrees.
From 1987 through 1994, I worked for the US Army in Germany, the first two years as Production Control Clerk for the Department of Logistics and then as Language/Liaison Specialist for the US Military Police, where I also had to work at accident and crime scenes and once even while a WWII bomb was defused. During that time, I also translated and interpreted for the German Police, at court and for other German authorities.
After my move to the USA in 1994, I started to work part-time as a freelance translator/interpreter and now I am working full-time and, in addition to this, I give German lessons at a local language school.
During the past 6 years, I have mostly translated and proofread from German into US/UK English.
From May 2003 through May 2004, I worked with Bowne Global Solutions on a major translation project as German Language Manager.
