Yosemite Park in north-central California has been inspiring people for centuries. This national park is
one of the most popular national parks in the US, but for a damn good reason. You can climb, you can
hike, you can stargaze, you can swim in the Merced River -- or, better, rent a raft and float your way
down. It’s been protected since 1864, and is famous for its waterfalls, deep valleys, grand meadows, a
vast wilderness area, and much more. Before you travel though, do not forget to apply for your USA
ESTA.
There is no better way to get up close and experience Yosemite Park than by setting out on foot and
hiking. Because when you slow down and commune with nature, you see things you might otherwise
miss. Things like waterfalls and wildlife that you can find at any turn when hiking in Yosemite.
Yosemite is known as a premier destination for hikers looking for the most scenic and challenging trails
in the country.
The most famous hiking trail in Yosemite is the Half Dome. At more than 15 miles round trip, the path
is not for a beginner or someone who isn’t in good shape. They require permission that must be applied
for in advance of your visit. Rising nearly 5,000 feet above Yosemite Valley and 8,800 feet above sea
level, Half Dome is the Holy grail of Yosemite for hikers and.
The second famous trail is Cloud’s Rest, a massive granite formation just northeast of Half Dome in
Yosemite Valley is visible throughout Yosemite Valley and is an excellent trail for viewing the Valley
Floor from above.
Meadow Loop Trail is the full loop trail which lasts 3.5 miles long and should take the average walker
about 2 hours to complete. You can expect to see all of the sights and sounds that nature has to offer
and possibly even see a herd of deer. This hike is on the southern entrance to Yosemite, about an hour
drive from the Valley Floor.
If you have a group with mixed abilities, you might consider May Lake and Mount Hoffmann.
Towering above May Lake, Mt. Hoffman is the geographic center of Yosemite National Park and an
excellent, though strenuous, hike for May Lake visitors.
The Mist Trail and Nevada Fall in Yosemite Valley this is a 5.8-mile hike that can take 5 to 6 hours
round-trip with a 2,000-foot elevation gain. The trail is in 2 parts: The Mist Trail to Vernal Fall and
continuing an extra 1.3 miles from Vernal fall to Nevada Falls. If you want to try something that is a
little easier, you can walk about a mile to get to the Vernal Fall footbridge to enjoy the view of the Fall
with a bit of less difficulty.
Yosemite has about 800miles of trails and gets five million visitors annually. So, the traffic can get
severely backed up on summer weekends, particularly in the eastern end of the valley. It's generally
recommended that if you're visiting the valley on a summer weekend, you arrive before 9 am or after 4
pm to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
The National Park is very accessible. Even without hiking, the breathtaking views from drive-to
overlooks like Tunnel View, Glacier Point, and Washburn Point, along with easy trails like Happy Isles,
Bridalveil Fall Trail, and Lower Yosemite Fall Trail are enough to create a memorable trip itinerary.
Whether it's your first-time visiting Yosemite National Park or you are a seasoned veteran traveler,
you'll always find something new to do here; you need to put on your hiking boots and hits the trails.

De op een na beroemdste wandelroute is Cloud’s Rest, een massief granieten formatie ten noordoosten van Half Dome in Yosemite Valley. Zichtbaar vanuit de hele vallei en een uitstekende wandelroute als je de bodem van de vallei van bovenaf wilt zien.
De Meadow Loop Trail is een rondwandeling met een lengte van 5,63 kilometer en kan door de
gemiddelde wandelaar in ongeveer 2 uur afgelegd worden. Je kunt alle denkbare uitzichten en geluiden
verwachten die de natuur te bieden heeft en mogelijk zelfs een kudde herten. Deze wandelroute is bij de zuidelijke entree van het Yosemite park, ongeveer een uur rijden vanaf de bodem van de vallei.
Als je een groep hebt van gemengd niveau dan kun je May Lake en Mount Hoffmann in overweging
nemen. Mount Hoffman torent hoog uit boven May Lake en is het geografische centrum van Yosemite
National Park. Het biedt tevens een geweldige, maar inspannende wandelroute voor de bezoekers van
May Lake.
De Mist Trail en Nevada Fall in Yosemite Valley is een wandelpad van 9,3 kilometer die 5 tot 6 uur
duurt (heen en terug) met een stijging van ruim 609 meter. De wandelroute bestaat uit 2 delen: de Mist
Trail naar Vernal Fall en gaat dan nog 2 kilometer verder door van Vernal Fall naar Nevada Falls. Als je
iets makkelijkers wilt proberen dan kun je ongeveer 1,6 kilometer lopen naar de Vernal Fall voetbrug
om daar met minder inspanning te genieten van het uitzicht op de waterval.
Yosemite heeft zo’n 1287 kilometer aan wandelpaden en ontvangt 5 miljoen bezoekers per jaar. Dit
betekent dat het verkeer er behoorlijk kan vastlopen tijdens zomerweekenden, vooral aan de oostelijke
kant van de vallei. Als je de vallei bezoekt tijdens een zomerweekend is het dan ook aan te raden om
voor 9 uur ‘s morgens te arriveren of na 4 uur ‘s middags om te vermijden dat je in de file komt te
staan.
Het National Park is heel toegankelijk. Zelfs zonder te wandelen kun je genieten van adembenemende
uitzichten vanaf uitzichtpunten die met de auto bereikbaar zijn, zoals Tunnel View, Glacier Point en
Washburn Point. En dan hebben we nog makkelijke wandelroutes zoals Happy Isles, Bridalveil Fall
Trail en Lower Yosemite Fall Trail, alles bij elkaar voldoende om een gedenkwaardige reisroute samen
te stellen. Of het nu je eerste bezoek is aan het Yosemite National Park of je bent een doorgewinterde veteraan, je zult hier altijd iets nieuws vinden om te doen; trek je wandelschoenen aan en ga op pad!
