On a professional note: I have no formal experience in translation as of yet and I'm looking to take my first steps into the world of translation. I come from Poland but have lived and studied German and Swedish in the UK for the past 5 years. I have also done a placement both in Germany and Sweden which greatly improved my skills in those languages. Moreover, I am about to graduate and translation has always been something I'd love to do professionally so I am now researching my options and applying for various positions. On a personal note: I have a few keen interests, first one of them being calligraphy. I'm proficient at copperplate calligraphy and recently started looking into Roman, traditional calligraphy, unfortunately being left-handed makes it somewhat more difficult. I also have good skills in retouching in Adobe Photoshop (along with a great general knowledge of the software) and own my own crop-frame Canon. A lot more could be said about my hobbies but all in all, I would just like to add that I learn very quickly and the same goes for translation: I feel like if I find a niche I love, I can very quickly become an expert in the field. |
