My name is Gareth Gummow, and I'm a translator. I started studying Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean almost immediately after finishing high school, and it's been my main passion ever since.
My first job was as a chef, however all interactions took place in Mandarin. Being in that environment for an extended period of time made me realize I would be much happier focusing on translation and interpretation. I started to do just that, and have since been formally educated in Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, as well as in English. I initially studied through one-on-one lessons and online courses, before eventually going to post-secondary for Japanese and Korean languages specifically. I was also working on the TEFL/TESL/TESOL at the time, and have also gone to school for systems engineering.
Since then, I've done work translating written works on North Korea from Korean into English, I've done work as a TA helping to mark assignments for Korean language programs, done Japanese language interpretation at two hospitals, lived in multiple cities across three countries, married a Japanese national, and done an array of different things relating to linguistics.
