Übersetzung - Englisch There in the Carolina Rediviva they keep the aforesaid Bible, but the one they show you is only a copy. We travel to escape our own landscape but we carry it tattooed on our retinas, we search for different silences to escape what we carry with us, we believe we find the way out of our labyrinth while in reality we only expand it with the false illusion of traveling. Without wanting it, in that old verse I compared that antique Bible written with silver letters with the one we are always looking for but never find, but the facsimile reminded me that the fallacy of whatever object is only effective in front of gullible eyes.
Niederländisch > Englisch: Holland for Beginners
That orientation on the sea Holland has in common with England, Spain, Portugal and the former republic of Venice. Perhaps that could be explained from their colonial past, -- although it might also be the reverse, -- except that for Holland the sea is not simply the friendly element over which looted riches are transported, but also a threat. Holland is that part of the Netherlands, which is under sea level. The world is created by God, but Holland by the Hollanders, they sometimes say.

About me:
After having studied Marketing & Design for a year, I went traveling. Because of my broad intellectual interests I decided to study Philosophy at Leiden University. I became involved with an Art Gallery in Rotterdam and a group of philosophers with whom I organized lectures and the “Rotterdam Philosophy Café”. In 2000 we did the short movie on the cynic philosopher of Sinope, “Diogenes in de Koopgoot”, for which I did research, script, direction and supervised the editing process.
During several years I was involved with the organization of Poetry International in Rotterdam. This gave me the opportunity to speak with poets, publishers and translators, and it inspired me to start translating myself. I worked in the Netherlands’ only poetry bookstore in Amsterdam: Perdu.
I moved on to The American Book Center (8 years), a surroundings where nearly all communication was in English, switching between Dutch and English required as second nature, and exposure to many aspects of American Culture inescapable. As a regular contributor to the quarterly newsletter I wrote about publications, writers and book-related subjects. Needless to say : I read a lot!
Learning Spanish I traveled through Spain. In La Rioja I made wine the traditional way and explored the region’s rich archaeological and historical heritage. I fell in love with Asturias though: its history, archaeology, geography, traditional and current music, ancestral traditions, nature, mythology, festivals, traditional architecture, tourist attractions, literature and current affairs. Meanwhile I have learnt the Asturian language from which I have translated several articles and (prose) essays.
Besides Translation Services, I offer Graphic & Web Design. Languages Pairs:
