Other – I don’t know Jun 24, 2021

I only bid on jobs posted on Proz very occasionally as more often than not rates “offered” are much lower than mine. I prefer being contacted directly and providing a quote for a specific job.

Again we're missing the "Other" option Jun 25, 2021

I don't participate in biddings. In fact, very few colleagues do. There are several ways to get new clients and to negotiate with old ones, and I believe bidding processes are not even a common one, unless you're working for the government or large companies.

Near zero Jun 25, 2021

I may make a bid for a job if I have the occasional very slow patch but I am never awarded the job as my rate is probably too high. Agencies who advertise are probably looking for the lowest rate. In fact, I have not found a new client through this site for a while, so I ask myself why I am a paying member. The way I most commonly acquire a new client these days is when a project manager moves from one company to another and they start to offer me jobs from their new agency.

~2% Jun 25, 2021

I don't formally track such things, but I would estimate that I am offered one of every fifty or so Jobs Board jobs that I submit a bid on or show interest in, either via submitting a quote on this site, or by e-mailing the poster.

So a fairly abysmal rate. On the other hand, I typically don't spend more than five minutes responding to such offers, so it doesn't really waste a lot of my time.

A Bit Of A Guestimate... Jun 25, 2021

...but I seem to be awarded something along the lines of 1 in every 5 bids I make to any author I haven't worked for before. After that, I often don't have to make one, when the client who contacted me in the first place asks me to do another book or other kind of translation for her/him.

What "other" option? Aren't you missing the point? Jun 28, 2021

I think the options "Lower than 5%" and "Higher than 20%" cover all the other possible ratios for people who participate in biddings. If you don't participate in biddings then you don't need to vote in this poll.

There is no need for an "other" option because this poll is not asking how you get clients!
