Change log

Oct 1, 2021 12:35: Yolanda Broad changed "Term asked" from "Type Compo (abbreviation meaning)" to "Type Compo "

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Bashiqa

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Bashiqa Oct 1, 2021:
@ Samuel Not sure how you get from compo to test
Emmanuella Oct 1, 2021:
Merci Samuel.

Bashiqa Oct 1, 2021:
@ Conor I read it as the composition of the written exams includes French, Philo and Maths.
Emmanuella Oct 1, 2021:
Nor do I ...
Conor McAuley Oct 1, 2021:
Looks like composition is the only possibility, but I don't understand how you can do a "compo" (an essay, as I understand the term in English) in Maths, for example.
Emmanuella Oct 1, 2021:
Unbelievable !
Elizabeth Niklewska (asker) Oct 1, 2021:
@ Samuël Buysschaert Your extra information in https://dictionnaire.lerobert.com/definition/composition now makes this term make sense to me!
Emmanuella Oct 1, 2021:
Composition d'histoire. - abréviation, familier compo
https://dictionnaire.lerobert.com/definition/composition

ça parait cohérent avec un exemple visuel:

Emmanuella Oct 1, 2021:
@ Bashiqa

Elizabeth Niklewska (asker) Oct 1, 2021:
Hey sorry I wasn't trying to cause offence. It's just that Composition is already in Proz in a different setting and I don't think it fits with the codes underneath. However, I am fallible, otherwise I wouldn't be asking a question!
Bashiqa Oct 1, 2021:
@ Asker Not a problem I`ll simply block you from my e-mails.
Have a good day,
Chris.
Elizabeth Niklewska (asker) Oct 1, 2021:
Context Doesn't make sense in context. Please don't just put random guesses!
Bashiqa Oct 1, 2021:
Composition perhaps.

Not a random guess!
Note from asker:
Hi, fair enough, but context is needed, to help the asker make an informed decision. Luckily, there has been great teamwork here!
