An important strategy to overcome the side effects of chemotherapy, and to improve the efficiency of the drugs, is to encapsulate them in nanostructured systems. Nanotechnology is a scientific field that involves the application of materials on a nanometer scale in different areas including engineering, chemistry, biology, and medicine [9]. In chemotherapy, nanotechnology might be used to increase the selectivity, stability and solubility of drugs, as well as to increase the permeability of drugs in solid tumors by the Enhanced Permeability and Retention (EPR) effect, including the blood brain barrier, which is an extramedular site highly involved in leukemia metastasis [10,11,12].
