This document is about standardizing operating procedures for a major French auto maker's IS/IT department. I am tending to think 'centrage' refers to the initial planning phase, but I would like agreement/disagreement. Thanks.
"Les processus relatifs au budget, au pilotage d'un projet SI et à toute la chaîne de création d'un SI, du centrage à la mise en production, ont été déployés auprès de 850 collaborateurs. "

If that is what they mean, then "...from conception to series production..." sounds pretty good

: Or "project definition", a term I've seen a lot. Looks like "foucs" occured to me at the same time as you :-)

scoping
One of the 1st things you do in a project is decide the scope - what is included, and just as importantly, what isn't.
I'd love to provide a ref, but it's out of my head :-)

Your dictionary will undoubtedly give "centring" or "centering" - same idea - you decide what is in your photograph (project) and what isn't. It's just I think that scoping is a better word for this in IT :-)

I suppose "Focus" is another, closer option.
