bois ? clichés ?

Our interviewee is being asked to guess what the singer might be like:

Ouais ça pourrait être un petit cabaret. Un petit cabaret, simple, juste une guitare à côté. Moi je ne sais pas ce qu’il y a comme instrument dedans, j’ai pas fait attention à ça. Du bois au niveau de la décoration, mais vraiment un truc simple, pas les gros clichés, je sais pas une voiture ou quelque chose comme ça, on s’en fou un peu quoi.

Bois ? clichés ? He doesn't care, but I have to translate this stuff. Are there any pop-conscious teenagers out there who can do my translation for me?

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com May 30, 2005:
Yes, of course, Suezen, a wooden stage would be simple. Thanks.
Non-ProZ.com May 30, 2005:
Conor: What are nightclub sets usually made of and how would timber be "simple"?

Gros clichés - semi-clad backing singers, big screens, singer prancing about etc.

woodwork - cliché or "stuff"

If it is all about an imagined small cabaret, woodwork deals with the decoration ( unless he means wood instruments - unlikely -).
Cliché stays as it is. Unless it sounds too highbrow in a teenager's mouth!
Peer comment(s):

agree David Vaughn : yes - its the boite that is done in bois, not only the stage

just wood for the background, but something really simple, none of that over-the-top stuff

I think it's just talking about a wooden stage or background scenery
and that they're not laying the scenery/special effects too thick

Simple wooden decor/nothing conventional cornball

The tone is very casual and a bit flippant, so I would try to maintain that.
