Bio

I began my career
as a translator, after having worked as a Mathematics, Science, and IT teacher
in Australia and a research scientist in Germany, USA, and Australia. I grew up
and worked in Germany, before living and working in Australia.

Therefore,
I am fluent and have mastery of German and English. As an avid reader of both
fiction and non-fiction books in both languages, I have acquired a substantial
vocabulary in both languages. Due to my previous work, this includes
scientific, mathematical and IT vocabulary.

My
translation experiences so far are science-fiction and fantasy novels of
American and one South African author. The work helped me to develop effective
and efficient procedures to faithfully translate these works. It also enabled
me to assemble a suite of software tools for my translation projects. I have an
extensive knowledge and experience of using computers and software, which was
essential for my previous professions. Therefore, I could easily change the
software that I am using for translations if required by a client. In future, I
hope to extend my translation work to non-fiction texts in the field of science,
mathematics and technology. This would allow me to make use of my working
experiences and my knowledge of the specific vocabulary.

While I may
be a novice translator, I have varied work experiences in other professions, as
well as life experiences. Additionally, I have a proven track record, of the
ability and willingness to learn and to adapt to new challenges. This gives me
the confidence that I will be able to be successful as a translator.
