A few days ago I encountered a strange phenomenon: Since then I cannot have several windows open in word at the same time, there\'s always only one to be seen (also in the bar below). As it sometimes is comfortable to be able to switch between texts this is very embarrassing and I really would appreciate if somebody had a hint about what to do. I tried that one of Lutz (in the question about headers and footers) about renaming the normal.dot but unfortunately it did not help.

to insert your Office disk and choose option \"repair\". Also you can visit Microsoft.com and let your computer search for office updates. If that does not help, I do not know what to reccommend.
Win XP have System Restore option, you can go back to earlier state of your computer, but I do not remember how it was with \'98... [addsig]

Go to Control Panel

and than to Folder Options; look for \"reuse open window for new programms\" or something similar - I don\'t remeber exactly. Deselect this option.
IMO, this is a problem of Windows and not of Office.

Andrzej

First of all thank you very much for your hints!
I just was lingering around Help in Word and there I happened to find a hint concerning \"tools-options-view\" where I had to check the box called \"Windows in task-bar\" - and it was working... So I really have to apologize for my asking out of lacking knowledge about MS Word!
